Are you passionate about pioneering sustainable solutions that can transform the future of housing for northern and Indigenous communities?
For researchers dedicated to creating real-world impact through advanced building science and energy systems, this postdoctoral fellowship at Concordia University in Montreal offers a unique opportunity to help shape the next generation of resilient, affordable housing in Canada's most challenging environments.
About The University Or Research Institute
Concordia University, located in the vibrant city of Montreal, Quebec, is recognized as one of Canada's leading comprehensive universities. Known for its strong commitment to research, innovation, and social responsibility, Concordia fosters a dynamic academic environment that encourages interdisciplinary collaboration and community engagement. The university consistently ranks among the top institutions in Canada for research intensity and impact, particularly in engineering, sustainability, and urban systems. Montreal itself is a multicultural hub, offering an exceptional quality of life, a thriving research ecosystem, and a welcoming atmosphere for international scholars.
Research Topic and Significance
The postdoctoral fellowship centers on developing community-driven, affordable, and energy-resilient housing solutions for northern and Indigenous communities in Canada. These regions face unique challenges—extreme climates, limited infrastructure, and the need for culturally appropriate, sustainable housing. The research addresses critical issues at the intersection of building physics, energy systems, digital modeling, and social equity. By integrating advanced simulation, renewable energy, and prefabricated construction systems, this initiative aims to deliver scalable frameworks that support electrification, resilience, and affordability while respecting the values and needs of Indigenous populations.

The outcomes have the potential to inform national policy and set new standards for sustainable housing in remote and underserved areas.
