In the Central Operations and Services Area, we provide reliable cloud solutions and different technical services to enable Mercedes-Benz digital products to focus on their business purpose.We build up cloud infrastructure and services such as CI/CD Tools, Monitoring & Logging solutions, and many more tools used by our software development teams.
Besides just providing tools, our teams collaborate closely with the Software Development teams to ensure and increase developer satisfaction by optimizing the platform services.The Teams within the Area enable e.g. Identity Access Management or coherent customer data handling for all users interacting with the digital touchpoints.
Our central Service Management Team provides a overarching service management model including processes and tools.IN THIS ROLE YOU WILLImprove monitoring and help elevate the quality, performance, and resilience of our products.Engage in and improve the whole lifecycle of services from inception and design, through deployment, operation, refinement and end of life (sundown)Support services before they go live through activities such as system design advising, developing software platforms and frameworks, capacity planning and launch reviewsMaintain services once they are live by measuring and monitoring availability, latency and overall system healthDevelop/maintain automation applications, scripts and CI/CD workflows for automating operational tasks to reduce manual intervention,
minimize errors and improve efficiencyBe responsible for creating and maintaining documentation related with disaster recovery scenariosBe part of the incident management and post-mortem processCollaborate with development teams and lead and mentor other engineersTO SUCCEED YOU NEEDTo be proficient in scripting languages such as python and bashThe ability to debug, optimize and propose changes to application code, including improving scalability, resilience and monitoringIn-depth knowledge of monitoring concepts and methodologies for distributed systemsTo automate routine tasks using higher level programming languages (e.g. Python/Go/Typescript) and shell scriptsA systematic problem-solving approach, coupled with effective communication and collaboration skills and a sense of driveAn understanding of Unix/Linux operating systemsTo have working knowledge of AWS and KubernetesFamiliaritywith distributed systems,
container technologies, microservice architectures and the cloud-native technology stackA degree in Computer Science, a related technical field involving software/systems engineering, or equivalent practical experienceYOU WILL BE HAPPY WITHOpen source softwareNo top-down hierarchy.
