About the Role

We are looking for a Cloud Data Engineer based in Latin America to work on a long-term project for one of our clients, a U.S.-based software development company. You will join a newly formed Product Engineering team building the next generation of Agentic AI-powered products.

This role goes beyond moving data. You will help design the data store that autonomous agents reason over — building multi-modal pipelines that process structured and unstructured sources into vector and graph databases, and shaping the knowledge layer that makes agent reasoning possible.

Key Responsibilities

- Design and build multi-modal data ingestion pipelines, collecting and structuring data from relational databases and unstructured sources such as PDFs, Word documents, and PNG/SVG diagrams
- Develop and optimize the knowledge layer, managing embeddings in vector databases (Pinecone, ChromaDB, Vertex AI Search) and graph databases (Neo4j) to enable multi-step agent reasoning across distributed data sources
- Integrate autonomous coding agents into daily development workflows to plan, generate, and refactor data infrastructure and microservices
- Collaborate with AI Engineers to design and maintain evaluation pipelines and gold datasets used for automated verification, retrieval quality measurement, and confidence scoring of AI outputs




- Develop and maintain scalable data services and RESTful APIs in Python (FastAPI or Django) to expose structured and validated data
- Deploy, monitor, and optimize data workloads on GCP using services such as Vertex AI and BigQuery, ensuring reliability, security, and cost efficiency

Basic Qualifications

- Advanced English, written and verbal, for daily work with a U.S.-based team
- Comfortable designing in an emerging space where patterns are still being established
- Collaborative, able to work closely with AI Engineers and product stakeholders
- Self-directed, with strong judgment about reliability, security, and cost trade-offs

Technical Requirements

- 5+ years of data engineering experience, with a proven track record building production-grade AI data systems
- 4+ years with Python, including FastAPI, Pydantic, SQLAlchemy, and SQL for building scalable data services and microservices
- Strong experience with data orchestration and processing: Apache Airflow, Cloud Composer, or Prefect, plus BigQuery and DataProc
- Hands-on experience with GCP or AWS, deploying and managing scalable data pipelines and workloads
- Demonstrated use of AI-assisted development tools (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Gemini Code Assist, Claude Code, Codex, or similar autonomous coding agents) to accelerate development workflows

Nice to Have





- Hands-on experience with vector databases such as Pinecone or ChromaDB, and building RAG pipelines and GraphRAG patterns
- Experience with graph databases such as Neo4j
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or a related field
