About DataTel
DataTel is a security-first technology partner providing managed IT, cybersecurity, business voice and telephony, networking, and 24/7 Security Operations Center services. We help organizations make technology, security, compliance, and communications feel steady, human, and under control. We run the company on EOS (Traction) and are investing in AI and automation across the business, including our back office.
The Role
We are looking for a tech-forward accounting leader who can both own the work and improve the system. This person will be responsible for DataTel's day-to-day accounting operations, including billing, accounts receivable, collections, payables, payroll coordination, month-end close, reporting, forecasting, and vendor relationships.
This is not a role for someone who only wants to process a queue or maintain the status quo. We want a hands-on systems builder who finds the root cause of problems, uses AI and automation to remove manual work, documents repeatable processes, and treats the company's financial results like an owner would.
A major early priority will be evaluating the work currently handled by outside bookkeeping and accounting partners, recommending what should remain outsourced versus move in-house, and building a finance function that is faster, more accurate, scalable, and cost-effective.
What You'll Own
Strategy & Finance Function Development
▪ Set the direction for DataTel's finance function and build a practical 12- to 24-month improvement roadmap.
▪ Evaluate bookkeeping, payroll, tax, and other finance activities to determine what should be handled in-house, outsourced, or automated based on cost, quality, risk, and capacity.
▪ Prioritize and execute finance improvement projects with leadership, operations, and DataTel's technical and automation resources.
▪ Monitor improvements after launch, resolve issues, measure results, and keep documentation current.
Accounting, Close & Financial Reporting
▪ Own full-cycle bookkeeping and accounting in accounting software such as QuickBooks Online, Xero, or a comparable platform, including the chart of accounts, journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and accurate general ledger coding.
▪ Lead a timely and accurate month-end and year-end close using a documented checklist and supporting schedules.
▪ Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and a leadership-ready reporting package that includes the P&L;, balance sheet, cash flow, and key performance indicators.
▪ Coordinate with outside bookkeeping partners and the company's CPA on record accuracy, tax planning, preparation, filings, and owner tax distribution estimates.
▪ Maintain clean, diligence-ready books and support the integration of acquired companies' financial information when needed.
▪ Support SBA lender reporting, loan compliance, required financial statements, tax returns, and covenant calculations.
Billing, Accounts Receivable & Collections
▪ Review service tickets, projects, and client agreements for billable work and generate accurate, timely invoices through DataTel's PSA and billing systems.
▪ Verify that recurring agreement billing matches contracted services and resolve billing adjustments, credit memos, prorated charges, and invoice corrections.
▪ Own the accounts receivable ledger end to end, including payment application, unapplied cash, aging management, disputes, refunds, chargebacks, and NSF payments.
▪ Run a consistent and professional collections process across current, 31–60 day, and 60+ day balances, escalating issues when needed.
▪ Match customer payments from checks, ACH, and online payment platforms to bank deposits and resolve variances.
▪ Provide accurate and timely revenue data to third-party telecom compliance resources supporting FCC Form 499, USF, and related filings.
Payables, Vendors, Spend & Cost Control
▪ Own accounts payable and spend management, including approval workflows, invoice coding, receipts, and appropriate leadership approval for larger payments and new vendors.
▪ Serve as a primary finance contact for vendors regarding invoices, account questions, and disputes.
▪ Partner with operations on vendor bill reconciliation and contract pricing analysis, including identifying margin gaps, billing errors, and preventable cost leakage.
▪ Review software subscriptions and overhead spending to identify savings and improve cost control.
▪ Maintain appropriate inventory tracking and valuation for voice and network equipment.
Planning, Analysis & Compliance
▪ Lead the annual budget, rolling cash-flow forecast, and budget-versus-presente reporting.
▪ Maintain an accurate calendar of recurring filings and renewals, including business licenses, annual reports, personal property tax returns, state business taxes, and insurance renewals.
▪ Develop and maintain finance Scorecard measures in EOS, such as days to close, DSO, accounts receivable over 60 days, cash position, billing accuracy, and gross margin by service line.
▪ Participate in the appropriate weekly Level 10 meeting and own quarterly Rocks related to the finance function.
▪ Build models and provide analysis that supports pricing, profitability, cash management, and growth decisions.
Systems, Automation, AI & Documentation
▪ Use AI tools as part of daily work to accelerate reconciliations, transaction coding, variance analysis, reporting, collection communications, data cleanup, and documentation.
▪ Design, build, and maintain secure automations and integrations across accounting software, the PSA and billing system, spend-management tools, CRM, payment platforms, and banking workflows.
▪ Evaluate AI, fintech, and automation tools with a security-first mindset, including data handling, access permissions, system ownership, and vendor terms.
▪ Write and maintain clear SOPs so every finance process is documented, repeatable, auditable, and not dependent on one person.
▪ Partner with technical resources when APIs, Power Automate, Zapier, Make, Power Query, Python, or Model Context Protocol integrations can remove manual work.
▪ Protect confidential financial, payroll, client, and employee information and follow DataTel's security and access-control requirements.
What We're Looking For
▪ An accounting or finance degree. Contador Público or an equivalent qualification is appropriate for Argentina-based candidates.

▪ Demonstrated use of AI to improve accounting or reporting work. Candidates should be prepared to explain what they built, the tools used, and the result.
▪ Excellent written and spoken English and confidence communicating with clients, vendors, outside accountants, and company leadership.
▪ High attention to detail, sound judgment with financial data, strong responsiveness, and the discipline to work independently in a remote environment.

▪ Experience with ConnectWise PSA or another PSA/billing platform in an MSP, IT services, telecom, cybersecurity, or recurring-services environment.
▪ Experience with US payroll platforms such as Gusto and spend-management tools such as Ramp.
▪ Experience building automations or system integrations using APIs, Power Automate, Zapier, Make, Power Query, Python, or MCP servers.
▪ Familiarity with payment platforms, bank feeds, automated cash application, multi-state payroll, telecom reporting support, or SBA lender reporting.
▪ US CPA, progress toward a CPA, or another relevant professional accounting certification.
Schedule, Location & Engagement
▪ Full-time independent contractor engagement; remote.
▪ Consistent daily availability during US Mountain Time business hours is required, with flexibility during month-end and year-end close.
▪ Reliable high-speed internet, a quiet professional workspace, and secure handling of company information are required.

Compensation & Benefits
▪ Compensation: USD $22–$25 per hour, based on a 40-hour workweek.
▪ Paid time off, sick leave, and US holidays off
