Area Satellite Systems Engineer About Satellogic Satellogic is a vertically integrated Earth Observation company that designs, manufactures, and operates satellite systems, delivering decision-grade insights at scale to government and commercial customers. We build space systems end-to-end, from satellite design and manufacturing to launch and on-orbit operations, giving us the ability to deploy quickly, operate reliably, and support persistent monitoring across regions and priority areas. Our approach moves customers beyond one-off imagery toward continuous awareness and alert-driven decision-making, with adaptable pathways that can evolve from managed monitoring to full satellite ownership and sovereign control. Our technology supports a wide range of use cases across climate monitoring, agriculture, energy, infrastructure, defense and intelligence, helping organizations detect change, manage risk, and plan with confidence. With a team distributed across five countries, Satellogic brings together expertise in satellite engineering, software development, data science, manufacturing, operations, and go-to-market. We’re a group of purpose-driven builders who value ownership, curiosity, and execution—and who work with humility, honesty, and empathy. About the team The Satellite Program Team is a cross-functional organization that manages the strategic deployment and continuous evolution of our entire satellite fleet. Our mission is to drive the full end-to-end mission lifecycle, from setting high-level strategic objectives and negotiating overall system requirements to overseeing long-term on-orbit performance and capacity goals. This team serves as the central function for balancing constraints across R&D;, Manufacturing, and Operations. The team is always learning and trying to push the limits,
relying in part on the large diversity of people’s profiles and backgrounds. About the position As a Satellite Systems Engineer, you will take on a highly technical, hybrid mission that sits at the intersection of robust hardware design and agile software architecture. This is not your traditional, paper-pushing systems engineering role. You are responsible for a twofold challenge:
- Optimize & Protect: Dive deep into the current generation of satellites, resolving complex technical anomalies on orbit.
- Architect the Future: Spearhead the system architecture for our next generation of spacecraft. Based on your previous experience, you will be the ultimate technical "bridge," ensuring that low-level engineering details across software, electronics, and mechanics are scalable, robust, and perfectly aligned with our mission. Location Buenos Aires office. Willingness and ability to travel domestically and/or internationally to company offices, laboratories, client sites, potential clients, or suppliers as needed. This role will also require travel to our laboratory in Uruguay. Responsibilities
- Maintain and optimize system-level budgets, including Mass, Power, Propulsion, Link Budget, Data Latency, Pointing Performance, Agility, Image Quality, and Edge Processing Capacity, ensuring optimal balance between performance and risk.
- Co-define and design the systems architecture for future satellite constellations.
- Oversee system-level integration, verification, and validation (IV&V;) activities from conceptual design through to on-orbit commissioning.
- Interpret and define mission specific and spacecraft system level requirements based on the Concept of Operations (CONOPS).
- Identify and resolve technical gaps and critical points in the current satellite generation, managing anomaly resolution and ensuring "lessons learned" are effectively integrated into the next designs.
- Serve as the primary technical interface for R&D; teams (Software, Electronics, Mechanics), translating high-level operational requirements into granular technical specifications, APIs, and hardware-software interfaces. About you Experience
- BSc or Master’s degree in Aerospace, Electrical, or Software Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
- 5+ years of relevant experience in aerospace systems engineering, with a proven track record of participating in the full missions lifecycle.
- Demonstrated ability to navigate seamlessly between hardware block diagrams and complex software/firmware architectures.
- Deep expertise in trade-off analysis and systems engineering methodologies (e.g., V-model or MBSE). Skills
- Strong systems thinking: understanding trade-offs, basic engineering, and budgets.
- Problem solving: Ability to analyze problems and search for solutions, always exploring multiple alternatives.
- Organization: Excellent people, time, and risk management skills.
- Capacity to learn continuously and passion for pushing the limits.
- Advanced English and Spanish proficiency levels (verbal and written at all hierarchical levels). What we value
- Empathy, initiative, and accountability.
