Role OverviewWe are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Closet Design Professional to join our remote team. The adecuado candidate will have strong technical expertise in custom closet design, cabinetry, millwork, space planning, and design quality assurance. This role focuses on creating, reviewing, and refining custom closet designs while ensuring technical drawings, measurements, and estimates meet JL Closets' quality standards before production. The professional will also provide technical guidance, support junior designers, and help maintain consistent design standards and efficient workflows across the team. The ideal candidate can translate design concepts and client requirements into accurate, functional, and production-ready closet plans while considering materials, hardware, construction methods, and installation requirements.

Key Responsibilities
• Custom Closet Design: Develop and refine detailed designs for walk-in closets, reach-in closets, wardrobes, dressing rooms, built-in storage systems, shelving, and other custom closet solutions.
• Design Review & Quality Assurance: Review custom closet layouts, 2D/3D elevations, floor plans, and cut lists to verify dimensional accuracy, structural feasibility, appropriate clearances, and manufacturing compliance.
• Technical Drawing & Drafting: Prepare and evaluate detailed design drawings, elevations, construction details, dimensions, and technical specifications.
• Quote & Pricing Validation: Review quotes, bills of materials (BOM), material requirements, and hardware specifications against design plans to ensure pricing accuracy and eliminate order discrepancies.
• Technical Design Support: Provide guidance on complex closet layouts, measurements, material specifications, construction details, and hardware selections.
• Designer Training & Onboarding:



Support junior designers through technical guidance, design feedback, and training on company design standards, catalog specifications, software practices, and standard operating procedures.
• Manufacturing Feasibility: Ensure designs account for material properties, cabinetry construction methods, hardware clearances, CNC machining requirements, and production limitations.
• Design Problem-Solving: Identify and resolve technical design issues, ensuring plans are accurate, functional, and practical for manufacturing and installation.
• Standardization & Process Improvement: Identify recurring drafting and quoting errors and assist in improving design templates, quality-control procedures, and workflow documentation.
• Cross-Team Coordination: Work with sales, production, and installation teams to clarify design specifications and ensure projects are properly prepared for manufacturing. QualificationsMust-Haves
• Educational Background: Degree or diploma in Interior Design, Industrial Design, Architecture, Furniture Design, Drafting, or a closely related field.

Experience:
Strong experience designing custom closets, walk-in wardrobes, built-in storage systems, or related cabinetry and millwork projects.
• Design & Technical Expertise: Thorough understanding of closet systems, cabinetry construction, millwork, space planning, dimensions, materials, and hardware systems.
• Technical Drawing

Skills:
Ability to create, interpret, and evaluate closet layouts, floor plans, 2D/3D elevations, shop drawings, cut lists, and technical specifications.
• Manufacturing Knowledge: Understanding of cabinetry construction methods, material requirements, CNC production,



hardware installation, and manufacturing limitations.
• Plan & Quote Review: Proven ability to review design plans, bills of materials, material specifications, hardware requirements, and pricing estimates for accuracy.
• Attention to Detail: Exceptional precision and a strong quality-focused mindset regarding measurements, closet dimensions, construction details, hardware selection, and order entry.
• Problem-Solving

Skills:
Ability to identify design inconsistencies, resolve technical issues, and recommend practical solutions for manufacturing and installation.
• Communication

Skills:
Strong written and verbal English communication skills suitable for technical guidance, design reviews, and team collaboration.
• Availability: Consistent availability during business hours for timely design reviews and ongoing team support. Nice-to-Haves
• Direct experience with KCD Software or other closet design and CAD software.
• Working familiarity with Zoho CRM.
• Experience with CNC cabinet manufacturing and production workflows.
• Hands-on experience mentoring, training, or peer-reviewing junior designers.
• Background working directly with custom closet manufacturing, cabinetry, millwork, or installation teams.
• Experience developing design standards, quality-control procedures, or technical documentation.
• Familiarity with closet and cabinet hardware systems, including hinges, drawer slides, hanging systems, lift mechanisms, and specialty fittings. Work Setup & Schedule

• Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM EST
• Hourly Rate: $9.00–$11.00 per hour
