About the Role

Our client needs a Backend Engineer who can own Node.js services end-to-end: from designing and building REST APIs in NestJS to writing migrations and querying PostgreSQL with real SQL. The role exists to help the team ship reliable backend features at a sustainable pace.

Key Responsibilities

- Design and build REST APIs using NestJS, leveraging its module system and dependency injection
- Write and maintain PostgreSQL schemas, migrations, and queries through TypeORM
- Ensure code quality through unit and integration tests with Vitest or Jest
- Participate in code review via GitHub Pull Requests and keep the CI pipeline green
- Collaborate with the broader engineering team to define and refine backend architecture

Key Qualifications

- Strong, production-level TypeScript — you are comfortable with types, generics, and strict mode
- Hands-on experience with Node.js and NestJS, including modules, providers, and DI patterns
- Solid PostgreSQL skills: you write real SQL and manage schema changes through migrations with TypeORM
- Experience writing tests with Vitest or Jest, not just as an afterthought
- Comfortable with a Git PR workflow and GitHub Actions for CI

What Success Looks Like

- Within the first month, you are shipping features independently and your PRs are merging with minimal back-and-forth
- By month three,



your code has meaningful test coverage and you have contributed to at least one non-trivial database migration in production
- By month six, you are a reliable contributor to architectural decisions and CI pipelines stay healthy under your watch
