The Town of Lunenburg is seeking qualified applicants for Heavy Equipment Operator. This is an opportunity to put your equipment operating and road maintenance skills to work in a municipal setting, supporting the roads, infrastructure, and public services that keep our community running.

Job Duties

- Operate a wide variety of vehicles including trucks, plows, tractors, backhoes, front end loaders and similar equipment, using power-driven and hand tools, plowing, minor service maintenance to vehicles, excavation, tree work.
- Must be available to perform work outside of normal work hours, especially during emergencies and adverse weather conditions.

Qualifications

- High school diploma or equivalent;




- Three or more years’ experience operating heavy equipment and trucks in construction or road maintenance;
- Thorough knowledge of Class B CDL vehicles and heavy equipment operation;
- Or any equivalent combination of education and experience;
- Prior Public works experience, preferred;
- Residency within 30 minutes of the DPW building, preferred.

Requirements

- Valid Massachusetts Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL);
- Class 2B Hoisting Engineers License;
- Or be able to obtain both within six months of hire. Applicants who already hold both required licenses will receive first preference.

Hours & Pay

This is a full-time (40 hours/week), benefited position, Grade 2 Teamsters union Local 170 DPW union position. Pay Range: $ /hr - $ /hr DOEQ.
