Marketing Coordinator | Regulated DTC Consumer Brand
Our client is a small, founder-led consumer brand based in Austin, TX, that makes a regulated nicotine product (tobacco-free pouches) and sells it direct-to-consumer in the UK.
Because Meta, Google, and TikTok all prohibit nicotine advertising, there is no ad budget this company can spend to buy growth - every channel that's left (search, owned email and SMS, subscription retention, referral, retail and trade, athlete and podcast partnerships, field sampling) has to be built and wired together by hand.
That constraint is the whole shape of this job.
Company Overview:
Our client is a small, founder-led consumer brand based in Austin, TX, that makes a regulated nicotine product (tobacco-free pouches) and sells it direct-to-consumer in the UK.
Because Meta, Google, and TikTok all prohibit nicotine advertising, there is no ad budget this company can spend to buy growth - every channel that's left (search, owned email and SMS, subscription retention, referral, retail and trade, athlete and podcast partnerships, field sampling) has to be built and wired together by hand.
That constraint is the whole shape of this job.
Your Role:
This is a hands-on marketing generalist role for someone who likes building things, not just planning them.
Part of your week goes to using AI tools like Claude Code to connect systems, clean up lists, and automate repetitive work.
The rest goes to running campaigns with the sales, field, and partnerships teams.
You'll work directly with the two founders, with plenty of ownership and visibility.
Success looks like:
An outreach process for retail and partners that mostly runs on its own
A field team that has what it needs and gets better each round
Search, email, retention, and referral programs driving steady growth
Numbers the whole team can trust
About the category:
This is a regulated product, so a few rules are fixed.
No health, quit-smoking, or performance claims.
All marketing stays 18+ and UK-only.
No paid social or paid search.
If you enjoy creative problem-solving within clear boundaries, you'll like it here.
You'll:
Build and run outreach to retailers and partners: finding the right contacts, writing the emails, and tracking what works
Support the field team with target lists, routes, one-pagers, and follow-up emails after visits
Own email and SMS, subscription retention (win-back and pause offers), referral programs, and search/content
Create marketing visuals with AI tools, using the brand's existing look and feel
Automate recurring manual tasks so nobody has to do them by hand
Track results from the company's own order and subscription data, and flag anything that looks off
You Bring:
Hands-on experience using Claude Code (or a similar AI coding tool) to build something real that's still in use today.
This is the one must-have; most of the rest can be learned on the job
3+ years in marketing.
Many great fits started in a coordinator role and taught themselves to pull data or set up tools instead of waiting on someone else
Experience running cold email outreach yourself, using a tool like Apollo plus an email sequencing tool
Comfort working with spreadsheets and data; SQL is a plus, and getting there with help is fine
Some scripting in Python or JavaScript,
or experience directing AI to write it for you
Familiarity with connecting tools through APIs
A good marketing eye and clear, simple writing
Bonus Points:
Experience with tools like Apollo, n8n, SQL databases, SEO tools, or AI image tools
Marketing experience in a regulated industry (alcohol, supplements, pharma, gambling, etc.)
DTC, subscripnding pages, scripts, reporting, whatever removes the constraint.
We are heavy AI users and we expect you to build, not just prompt.
You are a fit if
You have done this with real money.
Hands on Google Ads at meaningful spend on DTC and eCommerce, with results you can walk us through: CPA, ROAS, revenue, and what you actually changed to get them.
Shopping and PMax specifically, not just search.
You are fluent in the whole stack , not one campaign type.
Search, Shopping, PMax, Demand Gen, YouTube, Merchant Center, GA4, GTM.
Bing is a nice to have.
You are AI native, and you build.
This is a requirement, not a bonus.
You should already be using Claude or equivalent as a working tool rather than a novelty, and you should be able to build and ship a landing page with it.
You can communicate your ideas in English at a native or near native level.
You will be in front of clients constantly.
You need to explain your thinking clearly, sell an idea on its merits, push back when a client is about to force the account into mediocrity, and raise a problem before it becomes a fire.
This matters as much as anything else on this list.
You are skeptical of your own numbers.
You would rather run the holdout than protect the dashboard.
You can work US Eastern business hours for client calls.
Where you live is up to you.
Bonus: you have built or operated your own Shopify store, or you have run Meta at spend too
