Company DescriptionCaters Media Group is a full-service multimedia agency delivering high-impact stories across general digital and broadcast platforms. We specialise in sourcing, producing, editing and distributing compelling video content to publishers, broadcasters and digital platforms worldwide. With an extensive library of rights-cleared footage and a growing portfolio of owned and operated social media brands, Caters generates over 1 billion impressions and reaches an audience of more than 14 million. About the JobWe are looking for a talented and motivated Video Journalist to join our international editorial team, with a particular focus on US news, viral stories and user-generated video content. This is a fast-paced, hands-on role for someone who enjoys finding interesting stories, contacting contributors, researching and developing content, writing engaging copy and producing video edits ready for publication. You'll need good editorial instincts, strong written and spoken English, confidence using social media to discover stories and the ability to edit raw footage into compelling video content using Adobe Premiere Pro. We are looking for someone who can work efficiently, manage multiple stories and consistently deliver content to meet daily publishing deadlines. The role operates on a rota, which will include some weekend working. Applicants must be flexible and comfortable working scheduled shifts to support our seven-day editorial operation. The RoleYou will be responsible for discovering, researching, developing and editing engaging video-led stories for our global publishing and distribution network. Stories could include breaking news, extraordinary eyewitness footage, dramatic rescues, unusual animals, remarkable human-interest stories, incredible caught-on-camera moments and emerging viral trends. Your responsibilities will include:
• Finding interesting US-focused news, viral and user-generated video stories.
• Monitoring social media, news websites and online communities for emerging stories.
• Identifying and contacting original video creators and rights holders.
• Securing the necessary permissions and agreements for Caters to represent footage.
• Interviewing contributors, eyewitnesses and people involved in stories.
• Researching and developing stories beyond the original social media post.
• Establishing the key facts, including what happened, where, when, why and what happened next.
• Obtaining original footage, additional video, photographs and supporting material.
• Writing clear, accurate and engaging editorial copy.
• Editing raw footage into compelling,
professionally presented videos using Adobe Premiere Pro.
• Selecting strong opening moments, maintaining good pacing and ensuring the finished video tells a clear story.
• Adding captions, voiceovers, interviews or supporting footage where appropriate.
• Checking facts and verifying the authenticity of footage.
• Working quickly on breaking news and time-sensitive stories.
• Pitching interesting story ideas to the editorial team.
• Managing several stories at different stages of production.
• Meeting daily publishing targets and deadlines. What We're Looking ForFluent written and spoken English and proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro are essential. You must be comfortable communicating directly with contributors, conducting interviews in English and producing accurate written copy suitable for publication. Ideally, you will have some professional experience in journalism, digital media, video production or a related editorial role. You must be confident using Adobe Premiere Pro to turn raw footage into engaging video stories, selecting the strongest moments, creating an effective opening and maintaining the viewer's interest. Experience with CapCut or other basic editing applications alone will not be sufficient for this role. This is a high-output editorial environment, so you must be comfortable working on multiple stories each day rather than spending several days developing a single piece of content. You will need:
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• Good news judgement and an eye for interesting stories.
• Practical experience and proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro.
• Strong video-editing skills and an understanding of visual storytelling.
• Experience editing raw footage into engaging short-form videos.
• An understanding of video hooks, pacing and structure.
• The ability to research stories accurately and efficiently.
• Strong organisational and time-management skills.
• Confidence contacting and interviewing contributors.
• Familiarity with major social media platforms and online trends.
• An interest in US news, culture and viral content.
• An understanding of what makes content engaging for digital audiences.
• Good fact-checking and research skills.
• A proactive approach to finding and developing stories.
• The ability to work independently within a remote international team.
• Flexibility to work scheduled shifts, including some weekends.
• A willingness to learn, take feedback and continually improve. Experience working with user-generated content, securing video rights or producing content for news publishers would be an advantage. Editorial and Commercial AwarenessAt Caters, we look for more than videos that have attracted large numbers of views. We want journalists who can recognise when there is an interesting story behind a piece of footage and understand how it could be developed into content that appeals to publishers and audiences. You should be curious, willing to investigate further and able to recognise opportunities to obtain additional footage, interviews and information that make a story stronger. You don't need to be an expert in commercial video licensing, but you should be interested in learning what makes footage valuable to publishers, broadcasters and digital platforms. Working EnvironmentThis is a full-time remote position within a busy international editorial team.
Working hours
will be scheduled on a rota, including some weekend shifts, to ensure editorial coverage throughout the week. You will work alongside experienced journalists, editors and content specialists, receiving guidance and feedback while developing your own stories from discovery through to the finished video edit. We operate to daily publishing deadlines, so reliability, communication, speed and consistent output are important. This is an excellent opportunity for a journalist who wants to develop their editorial, video production and digital storytelling skills while working on content that reaches audiences worldwide.
