About the Role
Zollege runs a multi-entity, multi-location family of allied-health career schools, and the Accounting team owns a disciplined monthly close across every entity. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Senior Accountant is the senior preparer for our most judgment-heavy work: revenue recognition, deferred revenue, allowance for doubtful accounts, accounts receivable, and all month-end cost allocations. The Accounting Manager reviews this work rather than re-performing it. You will own these schedules end to end, guide junior accounting staff whose reconciliations feed yours, and help standardize and automate recurring close tasks. ? Associate Role – Direct contract with the U.
S. Company ? Compensation: $2,850 USD per month (Contractor) ? Fully Remote Position ? 100% English-Speaking Role ? Work Directly with a U.
S.-Based Company
Key Responsibilities
Revenue Recognition & Deferred Revenue
• Prepare and review the monthly revenue recognition calculation and post the revenue journal entries in Sage Intacct.
• Transfer AR balances to deferred revenue by module and reconcile the deferred revenue balance by student.
• Coordinate with Compliance on new B2B agreements that affect revenue timing. Accounts Receivable
• Reconcile AR between HubSpot and Sage Intacct, including duplicate-invoice review, and reconcile the AR subledger to the general ledger monthly.
• Oversee the junior-level daily and weekly AR and enrollment reconciliations that feed the monthly AR position. Allowance for Doubtful Accounts & Write-Offs
• Calculate the monthly allowance across reserve tiers:
students behind on payments, completed students with balances, and dropped students with outstanding balances.
• Prepare the allowance memo, post the adjusting entry, and process AR write-offs in line with company policy. Month-End Allocations (Multi-Entity)
• Own the monthly intercompany and cost allocations across all entities and school locations: management fee, marketing (including new schools with and without enrollments), sales tax, supplies, dues & subscriptions, transaction costs, and admissions incentives.
• Analyze marketing spend by channel, validate allocation percentages, and distribute the marketing allocation summary to leadership for review. Provider / Doctor Payments
• Review rent and payment percentages by school, prepare the provider-payment import into Bill.com, sync to Sage, and route for review. Drops & Refunds
• Review student refunds against Paycove, record the drop entries, reconcile to AR and revenue recognition, and prepare the drops import file for Sage. Payments & Vendor Reconciliation
• Review the weekly Stripe working papers for accuracy and reconcile vendor accruals for textbooks and third-party instructors. Commissions & Bonuses
• Review monthly commission and bonus payments and the reserve wires for each payroll cycle. Financial Close & Reporting
• Analyze and review the monthly financial statements at the entity, school, and departmental level: explaining variances, new accounts, and new-school activity for Accounting Manager review.
• Complete monthly working papers (revenue, AR, refunds) and review the inventory/textbook reconciliation. KPIs, Process & Audit
• Serve as backup for weekly and monthly executive KPI reporting; maintain SOPs, lead automation of recurring close tasks, and prepare support for annual audit requests. Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including hands-on ownership of a monthly close.
• CPA preferred; strong CPA-track candidates will be considered.
• Demonstrated experience with multi-entity and multi-location close, intercompany transactions, and cost allocations.
• Strong working knowledge of U.
S. GAAP, particularly revenue recognition and deferred revenue.
• Hands-on experience with a mid-market ERP (Sage Intacct strongly preferred) and advanced Excel.
• Proven accuracy in reconciliations, journal entries, and financial-statement preparation under deadline.
