Operations Manager — Remote

Oak City Moving | Raleigh, North Carolina, USA

Starting pay: $450–$600 USD per week, depending on experience
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. U.S. Eastern Time, plus Saturday rotation and assigned Manager on Duty coverage

About the role

Oak City Moving is looking for a self-driven Operations Manager to take ownership of the office side of our U.S. moving business.

You’ll coordinate daily operations, lead our overseas office team, support our U.S. dispatcher and moving crews, and keep customers informed throughout their moves. You will be the main point of escalation before the owner, trusted to solve problems, make decisions within company guidelines, and follow through until issues are resolved.

We need someone who notices what needs attention and takes action. You should be comfortable making calls, having difficult conversations, organizing competing priorities, and finding solutions without waiting for step-by-step direction.

This is a hands-on role. You will initially perform many tasks yourself. As we grow and hire more overseas employees, you’ll help train them, delegate responsibilities, and oversee the quality and completion of their work.

What you’ll do

- Keep moves organized: Coordinate crew schedules, truck assignments, job instructions, rentals, lodging, and other logistics with our dispatcher.
- Prepare customers for move day: Complete pre-move confirmations seven days and two days before each move, verifying details and addressing questions or changes.
- Stay connected with customers: Check in during moves, communicate delays or billing changes, and complete satisfaction follow-ups two days after each move.
- Solve operational problems: Handle callouts, scheduling conflicts, equipment issues, customer complaints, and unexpected changes. Bring the owner clear facts and a recommended solution when approval is needed.
- Lead the remote office team: Set priorities,

delegate tasks, train employees, check work, and hold people accountable for results.
- Oversee crew checkout: Speak with crew leaders, review job times and charges, verify payment and documentation, and ensure jobs are properly closed out.
- Maintain accurate records: Review invoices, payments, crew payroll information, tips, bonuses, and reimbursements. Follow up on outstanding payments and customer claims.
- Improve how we operate: Keep procedures current, track performance, report important issues, and address recurring problems at their source.

Who you are

- A resourceful problem solver who takes initiative and follows through.
- Experienced in operations, dispatch, office management, or service team leadership.
- Confident leading people, delegating work, and checking results.
- An excellent English communicator, comfortable speaking with U.S. customers, crews, and vendors by phone.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and calm when several urgent issues happen at once.
- Comfortable with spreadsheets, customer management systems, and learning new software.
- Equipped with a reliable computer, stable internet, quiet workspace, and backup arrangements for outages.

Experience with moving companies, logistics, transportation, or home services is especially valuable. Familiarity with SmartMoving, Slack, Samsara, Google Workspace, or Gusto is a plus.

Compensation and availability

This position pays fixed weekly compensation of $450–$600 USD, covering the full schedule and responsibilities, including Saturday rotation and extended Manager on Duty (MOD) coverage.

When assigned MOD, you must remain available until the last moving crew has returned and all checkout responsibilities are complete. This may extend beyond 6:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
