The Role

The Security Products and Services Group is the core of Proofpoint’s success, and you will be contributing to our efforts to do what we do, even better. As a Staff Software Engineer on the D1X pipeline team, you will be focused on the back-end systems that power our industry leading products focused on email Security. These highly sophisticated systems are responsible for protecting the corporate email platform of some of the largest brands in the world. We are looking for someone who is an outstanding team player with a positive attitude and high energy, to help us deliver state-of-the-art products.

What you’ll do

- Lead efforts to design, implement software and support systems using industry best-practices
- Serve as a technical leader and mentor—conduct design reviews, guide junior engineers, and influence the team's technical roadmap.




- Collaborate with engineers and business stakeholders to identify and implement software solutions to business problems
- Establish and enforce data quality standards—implement validation frameworks, anomaly detection, and SLA-driven alerting to ensure data reliability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and drive preventive improvements.
- Define and drive engineering best practices: code reviews, CI/CD for data pipelines, and DataOps principles

What we’re looking for

- Bachelor's degree in computer science or similar technical field of study
- 8+ years of professional software or data engineering experience, with at least 4 years focused on cloud data platforms.
- Strong Python programming skills.
- Proficiency in coding in any other language, preferably Java and Golang
- Strong understanding of highly distributed architecture
- Experience working with secured APIs (REST, GraphQL, etc)
- Cloud computing experience (AWS, GCP, Azure, or similar)
- Experience in Docker and Kubernetes, preferred
- Experience working with observability and monitoring tools (Grafana, Kibana, etc)
- Strong experience working with agile development teams
- Understanding of best practices in performance tuning
- Excellent communication, planning and organizational skills
