We are seeking a ArchitectBackend Engineer to design, build, and evolve a cloud-native platform built entirely on an AWS serverless and NoSQL architecture . In this role, you will own event-driven services end to end , from data modeling and infrastructure definition to deployment and production support, working within a distributed engineering team that values autonomy and accountability.

The adecuado candidate is a seasoned Python enginee r with deep, hands-on expertise in serverless design patterns and a proven track record of delivering scalable, resilient distributed systems in production . You operate with a high degree of ownership and independence, make sound architectural trade-offs without close supervision, and communicate technical decisions clearly to both engineers and non-technical stakeholders. You will be expected to raise the technical bar of the team through design input, code reviews, and mentoring.

Responsibilities

- Architect and implement event-driven backend services , defining how components communicate asynchronously across the platform.
- Design access patterns and single-table data models optimized for performance, scalability, and cost.
- Define and maintain all cloud infrastructure as code , ensuring environments are reproducible, versioned, and consistent.
- Build messaging, fan-out, and event routing flows that decouple services and handle failures gracefully through retries and dead-letter handling.
- Own services end to end in production: monitoring, troubleshooting, incident response, and continuous performance and cost optimization.




- Lead technical design discussions and document architectural decisions and trade-offs.
- Review code and mentor other engineers on serverless best practices, testing and code quality.
- Collaborate with product and engineering stakeholders to break down requirements into well-scoped, deliverable work.
- Proactively identify technical debt , security risks, and scalability bottlenecks, and drive their resolution.

Must Have

- 7+ years of professional experience in backend software engineering.
- Expert-level proficiency in Python in production environments.
- Extensive hands-on experience with AWS Lambda, SQS, SNS, and EventBridge in production systems.
- Strong experience designing and operating Amazon DynamoDB data models at scale.
- Solid experience defining infrastructure with AWS CDK.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously , own deliverables end to end, and make technical decisions independently.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills , including the ability to explain technical trade-offs clearly.
- Advanced English Level.
- Based in LATAM.

Nice to have

- Experience with AWS Step Functions and API Gateway.
- Experience with observability tooling such as CloudWatch and AWS X-Ray.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for serverless applications (e.g., GitHub Actions).
- Experience writing CDK constructs in TypeScript.
- AWS certification (Developer, Solutions Architect Associate/Professional).
- Previous experience in startups or product companies working with US-based clients.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
