About the Role
Our client, a leader in aviation design and manufacturing based in Sandton , is seeking an experienced Aircraft Stress Engineer . This role is crucial for analyzing the structural integrity and load-bearing capabilities of aircraft components and structures under various operational conditions. You will utilize advanced simulation techniques and analytical methods to ensure the safety, durability, and performance of the airframe. Key Responsibilities
- Perform structural analysis and stress calculations for aircraft components and assemblies under static, dynamic, and fatigue loads.
- Develop and validate Finite Element Models (FEM) using industry-standard software (e.g., NASTRAN, ABAQUS).
- Interpret analysis results and provide design recommendations to optimize structural efficiency and weight.
- Collaborate with design engineers and manufacturing teams to ensure structural requirements are met throughout the product lifecycle.
- Prepare detailed technical reports documenting analysis methodologies, results, and conclusions.
- Stay current with advancements in structural analysis techniques and aerospace materials.
Requirements
- Master's degree or Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related structural discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in aircraft structural analysis and stress engineering.
- Expertise in using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software and related pre/post-processors.
- Strong understanding of mechanics of materials, structural dynamics, and fatigue analysis.
- Knowledge of aerospace materials and their behavior under load.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and technical communication skills.
