About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced and forward-thinking Lead Research Scientist to head their Genomics division in Sandton . You will be responsible for shaping the strategic direction of genomic research, leading a team of scientists, and driving innovation in areas such as personalized medicine and disease research. This leadership role requires a deep scientific understanding of genomics, coupled with strong project management and team-building skills, to ensure the successful execution of complex research initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and implementation of large-scale genomic research projects, including whole-genome sequencing and analysis.
- Manage, mentor, and guide a team of genomics researchers and technicians.
- Develop and optimize cutting-edge genomic analysis pipelines and methodologies.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to advance research goals and identify new opportunities.
- Interpret complex genomic data, translating findings into actionable insights for therapeutic development.




- Ensure the highest standards of scientific rigor, reproducibility, and data integrity in all genomic research.

Requirements
- Ph.D. in Genomics, Molecular Biology, Genetics, or a related field.
- Extensive experience (8+ years) in genomics research, with a proven track record in leading research teams and projects.
- Deep expertise in next-generation sequencing (NGS) technologies and associated data analysis.
- Strong understanding of statistical genetics, population genetics, and bioinformatics tools.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
