Senior Software Engineer – Payouts Platform (Python) | Contractor | LATAM

About the Role

You will join the Payouts squad of a US fintech company building an AI-powered, conversational-first financial platform for the Latino community in the United States. The company combines real-time financial infrastructure with AI and crypto rails to make cross-border money movement fast and affordable, and is expanding into credit, savings, and wallet services.

As a Senior Software Engineer,



you will help shape the core architecture of the platform. Your focus will be the backend microservices that ensure funds reach beneficiaries securely and on time, at a scale of millions of daily requests. This is a high-ownership role with direct impact on a product that serves a community historically underserved by traditional finance, working alongside product, operations, and compliance teams.

Responsibilities

- Design and implement robust backend services to handle the secure and timely disbursement of funds to beneficiaries.
- Build, optimize, and scale microservices that support complex payment, compliance, and disbursement workflows.
- Design and manage infrastructure capable of handling millions of daily requests while maintaining high standards of security and performance.
- Build and maintain distributed systems using Google Cloud services and industry-standard tools.
- Collaborate with product, operations, compliance, and other business units to deliver end-to-end financial solutions.
- Mentor junior developers and promote engineering best practices across the team.
- Use user feedback and system analytics to continuously refine and improve platform capabilities.

Requirements

Must-Have





- 5+ years of experience as a Software Engineer in fast-paced, dynamic environments.
- Proven track record of building, shipping, and iterating on production software, ideally in the Fintech domain.
- Strong backend development experience, with Python as the primary language of the team.
- Experience designing and implementing web services, including REST APIs.
- Solid foundation in algorithms and data structures.
- Familiarity with architectural patterns such as Hexagonal Architecture and Event-Driven Architecture.
- Familiarity with practices such as A/B Testing, Feature Flags, and Gradual Rollouts.
- Knowledge of security protocols, compliance standards, and KYC/AML processes.
- Fluent or advanced English.
- Strong collaboration and prioritization skills in a team-oriented environment.

Nice-to-Have

- Hands-on experience building and maintaining payment systems, financial disbursement solutions, or compliance-driven platforms.
- Experience with Flask and/or FastAPI.
- Experience with Redis and SQL databases.
- Experience with Google Cloud Platform (Firestore, Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub, Artifact Registry, Cloud Run, BigQuery).
- Experience with Kubernetes, Terraform, and New Relic.
- Previous experience or genuine interest in Fintech.
