Organizational context: The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) works globally to prevent drugs and crime from threatening security and development. Its Argentina Programme Office (POARG), part of the Andean and Southern Cone Region Office, implements national and regional projects. Currently, POARG is focused on a project in Neuquén Province to strengthen institutional capacities to combat drug trafficking at the retail level.
Job purpose: The Senior Project Support Assistant (Chemistry) provides crucial operational and logistical support for the implementation of the UNODC project in Neuquén Province, aimed at combating drug trafficking. This role is instrumental in ensuring the smooth execution of project activities by assisting with the organization of technical documents, systematizing project inputs, and monitoring the progress of programmatic tasks. The position directly contributes to strengthening the technical and institutional capabilities of the provincial Ministry of Security in their efforts against retail drug trafficking,



supporting activities related to forensic analysis, training, and inter-institutional coordination.
Responsibilities: The role involves providing comprehensive support to the technical-chemistry team, including organizing and systematizing technical documents, specialized inputs, reports, and training materials related to narcotics, psychotropic substances, and chemical precursors. The assistant will help maintain updated guidance documents, protocols, and conceptual notes. Logistical support for training sessions on controlled substances, synthetic drugs, and forensic analysis is a key function. This includes preparing and following up on technical training for various stakeholders, developing training materials, and supporting the safe dismantling of illicit processing sites.
