Job Purpose
The Marketing Copy Editor & Proofreader provides editorial governance and quality oversight for marketing content across traditional and digital channels. The role independently reviews and evaluates content for clarity, accuracy, audience appropriateness, readability, structure, messaging flow, tone, brand alignment, and adherence to approved legal, regulatory, product, and client requirements. Working across multiple lines of business and competing priorities, the role regularly exercises discretion and independent judgment when established guidance does not clearly dictate the appropriate editorial outcome. The incumbent advises stakeholders on brand and editorial standards, recommends substantive revisions, and is expected to influence final Assurant-branded deliverables through recognized editorial expertise. The role applies approved legal and compliance direction rather than independently interpreting legal requirements. For client-branded materials, the role recommends edits consistent with the client's voice and tone guidelines,



while the client retains final authority for its brand.
Primary Job Accountabilities/ Responsibilities
Copyediting and Editorial Governance - 45%
- Serves as a strategic editorial governance resource, supporting the development and maintenance of editorial standards, style guide interpretation, and quality benchmarks across the marketing content team.
- Independently evaluates marketing content for quality, audience appropriateness, readability, structure, messaging flow, tone, clarity, and alignment with applicable Assurant or client brand standards.
- Regularly exercises discretion and independent judgment when guidelines do not clearly dictate the outcome, including while managing a high volume of work, competing priorities, and differing requirements across lines of business.
