Organizational context: The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) works with states and civil society to prevent drugs and crime from threatening security and development. In Argentina, UNODC's Programme Office implements projects to strengthen capacities in law enforcement, criminal justice, and penitentiary systems. UNOPS, as an operational arm of the UN, supports the successful implementation of these projects, focusing on increasing efficiency and sustainability.
Job purpose: The Senior Project Support Associate (Penitentiary) will provide substantive support for Component I of the "Transnational Criminal Organizations in the Southern Cone" project. This involves conducting training activities and providing advice to Argentina and Uruguay on penitentiary management, aligned with international instruments. The role contributes to the interdisciplinary team's efforts in designing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating activities aimed at strengthening capacities in penitentiary intelligence, information analysis within correctional settings,



classification and profiling of inmates, high-risk inmate management, anti-corruption measures, and penitentiary security. The position promotes inter-institutional coordination and regional cooperation against organized crime originating from prisons.
Responsibilities: Monitor and report on project activities related to penitentiary systems, intelligence, information analysis, and organized crime prevention. Collect and systematize diagnostic information to identify institutional capacities, gaps, and needs. Prepare and update progress reports, technical inputs, and systematization documents. Support the preparation of project reports, concept notes, meeting minutes, and closing documents for project coordination, counterparts, and donors.
