Senior Full Stack Software Engineer (Django/React)

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Full Stack Software Engineer to join a small, fully remote engineering team building software for customers operating in regulated industries.

You will play a key role in designing and delivering production features across Django, React, and PostgreSQL, while working on complex systems where security, reliability, performance, and data correctness are critical.

This position offers significant product ownership and the opportunity to solve challenging technical and domain problems while helping maintain high standards across architecture, testing, security, and code quality.

Key Responsibilities

- Design and build production features using Django, React, and PostgreSQL.
- Own asynchronous processing, application performance, and correctness within a multi-tenant system.
- Follow and improve secure development practices supporting SOC 2 and NIST 800-53 compliance.
- Maintain high standards for software architecture, testing, code reviews, and technical design.
- Identify and resolve performance and scalability challenges.
- Contribute to technical decisions and document important engineering tradeoffs.
- Mentor other engineers and contribute to the team's engineering standards.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including experience in Senior Engineer or Tech Lead positions.
- Deep production-level experience with Python and Django, including:
- Django ORM
- Migrations
- Query optimization
- Django REST Framework or equivalent
- Strong React expertise,



particularly building complex and data-intensive user interfaces.
- Hands-on experience with AWS, including technologies such as:
- ECS
- Aurora
- CloudFront
- ElastiCache
- S3
- Infrastructure as Code
- Production experience with background and asynchronous job processing in web applications.
- Strong understanding of application security, including:
- Least-privilege principles
- Secrets management
- Authentication and authorization
- SSO / SAML / SCIM
- Secure Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
- Excellent written English communication.
- Ability to scope ambiguous technical problems, evaluate tradeoffs, and clearly document engineering decisions.
- Ability to maintain at least 4 hours of daily working overlap with US Mountain Time.
- Comfortable incorporating AI into development workflows using tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or similar solutions.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience developing LLM-powered features or AI agents, particularly within regulated environments.
- Understanding of AI requirements such as provenance, human review, and auditability.
- Experience working with regulated industries and frameworks such as:
- PCI-DSS
- HIPAA
- NIST 800-53
- Previous experience developing software for government or public-sector customers.
- Experience working within an early-stage startup environment.
