About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join a small, fully remote engineering team building a sophisticated platform used by customers operating in regulated environments.

As one of the most senior engineers on the team, you will have significant ownership across the entire product stack — from data models and APIs to user interfaces and production releases. You will also help shape the technical direction of the platform as it expands to support new frameworks, customers, and compliance certifications.

This is a high-ownership position where you will work closely with company leadership on product decisions while solving complex technical and domain challenges.

Key Responsibilities

- Own product features end-to-end, from architecture and data modeling through API, UI, testing, and release.
- Design and build production features using Django, React, and PostgreSQL.
- Develop and evolve complex relational data models while maintaining strong data integrity.
- Own asynchronous processing, system performance, and correctness within a multi-tenant architecture.
- Follow and improve secure development practices supporting SOC 2 and NIST 800-53 programs.
- Contribute to technical architecture and product decisions.
- Maintain high standards for code reviews, testing, and software design.
- Mentor other engineers and contribute to engineering best practices.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including significant experience as a Senior Engineer or Tech Lead.
- Deep production experience with Python and Django, including:
- Django ORM
- Migrations




- Query optimization
- Django REST Framework or equivalent
- Strong React expertise, particularly building complex, data-dense interfaces.
- Hands-on experience with AWS, including services such as:
- ECS
- Aurora
- CloudFront
- ElastiCache
- S3
- Infrastructure as Code
- Production experience with background and asynchronous job processing.
- Strong understanding of application security, including:
- Least-privilege principles
- Secrets management
- Authentication flows
- SSO / SAML / SCIM
- Secure SDLC
- Excellent written English communication skills.
- Ability to independently scope ambiguous technical problems, evaluate tradeoffs, and clearly document decisions.
- Availability for at least 4 hours of daily overlap with US Mountain Time.
- Strong familiarity with AI-assisted software development, including regular use of tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or similar platforms.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience building LLM-powered features or AI agents, including:
- Tool-using agents
- Retrieval
- Evaluation
- Guardrails
- Experience developing AI functionality where provenance, human review, and auditability are important.
- Familiarity with regulated industries and compliance frameworks such as PCI-DSS, HIPAA, and NIST 800-53.
- Experience developing software for government or public-sector customers.
- Previous experience working at an early-stage startup.
