UX/UI Designer – Web & Ecommerce
Part-Time, 15–20 hrs/week to start, with a path to full-time | Remote | Contract
About the Role
Our client, a marketing agency, is looking for a mid- to senior-level UX/UI Designer to join their Web team and lead the design of websites, landing pages, and ecommerce stores for their clients. You'll turn business goals into user-centered, conversion-focused experiences, from research and information architecture to high-fidelity UI and developer handoff. Every design you create will be built and launched.
Key Responsibilities
- Research each client's business, audience, and competitors, and turn insights into user personas, user journeys, and a clear content hierarchy
- Define information architecture, sitemaps, and wireframes
- Design high-fidelity, mobile-first UI for websites, landing pages, and ecommerce stores
- Apply CRO best practices and propose new ideas to improve conversion across the customer journey
- Write UX copy: headlines, CTAs, and microcopy that support the story and drive action
- Build and maintain brand design systems in Figma (typography, color, components, and patterns)
- Prepare developer-ready files with responsive specs, component states, assets, and clear handoff notes
- Work closely with the Head of Web and the development team to ensure designs are feasible and built as intended
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience designing websites, with proven ecommerce work
- A live, navigable portfolio with at least 2–3 launched sites you designed (Dribbble/Behance shots, mockups,
or PDFs alone will not be considered)
- Solid understanding of ecommerce UX: product discovery, product pages, cart, checkout, and purchase decision drivers
- Strong graphic design fundamentals: typography, grids, visual hierarchy, color, and composition
- Hands-on UX research experience, including user personas and journey mapping
- Storytelling and UX writing skills
- Advanced Figma: components, variants, variables, auto layout, and interactive prototypes
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Premiere Pro
- Understanding of responsive design and how designs translate into code
- AI tools already integrated into your design workflow (research, ideation, copy, imagery, or prototyping)
- Fluent written and spoken English
- Nice to have: basic HTML and CSS
- Nice to have: brand identity work (logos and visual identity systems)
- Nice to have: portfolio work for CPG, restaurant, DTC, or ecommerce brands
- Nice to have: marketing or web design agency experience
Adecuado Candidate The ideal candidate is a web designer who owns the process end to end, from understanding the client's business to handing off files a developer can build without guesswork. They have designed and launched real ecommerce stores and can explain the decisions behind them, especially what drives conversion. They combine UX thinking with strong visual craft, and they aren't only a graphic designer or only a developer. They communicate clearly in English, work well with developers, and are comfortable starting part-time with a path to full-time.
