South America Travel Sales Consultant – U.S. Market

About VA Expeditions

VA Expeditions is a U.S.-based travel company specializing in private, premium, and tailor-made journeys throughout South America.

We create personalized travel experiences for international travelers by combining customer service and commercial management in the United States with the destination expertise of carefully selected local partners throughout South America.

As we expand our presence in the U.S. market, we are looking for an experienced and commercially minded South America Travel Sales Consultant based in Argentina.

This is primarily a sales and customer-facing position. We are looking for someone who can build relationships with prospective travelers, understand their travel expectations, design appropriate solutions, follow up consistently, and convert qualified enquiries into confirmed bookings.

Position Summary The successful candidate will manage travel enquiries from the initial customer contact through proposal, follow-up, confirmation, and pre-departure support.

You will communicate directly with primarily U.S.-based customers, understand their travel needs, recommend appropriate South American experiences, prepare or coordinate customized itineraries and quotations, and maintain disciplined follow-up throughout the sales process.

The position also requires coordination with hotels, DMCs, tour operators, transportation providers, and other travel partners across South America.

We are looking for someone who combines excellent communication, strong sales instincts, destination knowledge, organization, and personal accountability.

Key ResponsibilitiesTravel Sales & Customer Consultation

- Respond promptly and professionally to new enquiries received through the website, email, telephone, WhatsApp, and other communication channels.
- Conduct customer consultations in fluent English.
- Understand each traveler's destination interests, dates, travel style, expectations, preferences, party composition, and approximate budget.
- Recommend suitable destinations, experiences, accommodations, and itinerary options.
- Help customers understand the differences between alternative travel options and guide them through the decision-making process.
- Prepare or coordinate personalized itineraries, proposals, and quotations.
- Present proposals clearly and confidently.
- Maintain consistent and professional follow-up until the customer makes a decision.
- Identify opportunities to improve or expand an itinerary when they genuinely enhance the customer's experience.
- Convert qualified enquiries into confirmed and profitable bookings.
- Develop long-term customer relationships and encourage repeat and referral business.

Customer Experience
- Provide knowledgeable, friendly, and solution-oriented communication throughout the customer journey.
- Support confirmed travelers during the planning and pre-departure stages.
- Coordinate special requests, celebrations, dietary requirements, room preferences, and other relevant travel requirements.
- Ensure customers receive accurate and timely information.
- Assist with resolving issues professionally when required.
- Maintain a high standard of communication expected from a premium travel company.

Supplier & Destination Coordination
- Communicate with DMCs, hotels, lodges, transportation companies, guides, and other suppliers throughout South America.
- Request and verify rates,



availability, booking conditions, inclusions, exclusions, payment requirements, and cancellation policies.
- Confirm that proposals reflect accurate and current supplier information.
- Follow up with suppliers according to established deadlines.
- Coordinate itinerary modifications and special customer requests.
- Maintain organized and confidential supplier information.

CRM & Sales Pipeline Management
- Record every enquiry, customer interaction, proposal, follow-up, and booking accurately in the company's CRM.
- Maintain clear next actions and follow-up dates for every active opportunity.
- Keep the sales pipeline current and accurate.
- Prevent qualified enquiries from becoming inactive because of missed follow-ups.
- Maintain complete customer notes so another team member can understand the status of an account immediately.
- Use HubSpot or equivalent CRM tools according to company procedures.

Task & Workflow Management
- Use Monday.com to manage assignments, deadlines, follow-ups, and cross-department responsibilities.
- Keep task status, due dates, notes, dependencies, and supporting information updated.
- Complete assigned responsibilities by the agreed deadline.
- Communicate potential delays or obstacles before deadlines are missed.
- Coordinate effectively with sales, product, marketing, operations, and technology teams.
- Provide concise and useful progress updates.

Product & Website Support The primary focus of this role is sales; however, the successful candidate may occasionally assist with:
- Reviewing itinerary information.
- Identifying outdated product information.
- Checking rates, inclusions, accommodations, or destination details.
- Coordinating corrections with product, marketing, or technical teams.
- Ensuring that information provided to customers corresponds with approved supplier information.

This position is not primarily a website-administration role.

Required Qualifications

- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in travel sales, luxury travel, tailor-made travel, reservations, tourism, hospitality sales, or a closely related customer-facing field.
- Advanced or fluent spoken and written English.
- Native or fluent Spanish.
- Confidence communicating directly with international and U.S.-based customers.
- Demonstrated sales and customer-service ability.
- Strong telephone and video-call communication skills.
- Excellent follow-up discipline.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- High attention to detail when handling prices, dates, names, supplier conditions, and customer information.
- Comfortable using CRM systems, email, spreadsheets, and digital collaboration platforms.
- Ability to work independently and take responsibility for results.
- Ability to manage multiple active customers and priorities simultaneously.
- Genuine interest in South America and international travel.
- Reliable high-speed internet and a professional remote-working environment.
- Availability to work with significant overlap with U.S. Eastern Time business hours.

Preferred Qualifications

Candidates with one or more of the following will be particularly relevant:

- Previous experience with a tour operator, DMC, luxury travel company, travel agency,



or tailor-made travel specialist.
- Experience selling South America to travelers from the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, or other international markets.
- Strong destination knowledge of Argentina and Patagonia, Peru, Chile, Ecuador and the Galápagos, Colombia, Bolivia, and/or Brazil.
- Experience selling private or premium travel.
- Experience designing multi-country South American itineraries.
- Experience preparing detailed travel quotations and proposals.
- Familiarity with HubSpot.
- Familiarity with Monday.com.
- Experience working remotely with an international company.

Working Environment

VA Expeditions is building a modern, internationally focused travel company.

This is a remote position based in Argentina, working closely with team members and partners in the United States and throughout Latin America.

Because our primary customer market is the United States, candidates must be comfortable working a schedule that significantly overlaps with U.S. Eastern Time.

The role offers the opportunity to grow with the company and assume greater commercial responsibility as VA Expeditions expands.

Application Process

Selected candidates may be asked to complete practical exercises as part of the recruitment process, including:

- A short interview conducted entirely in English.
- A simulated consultation with a prospective U.S. traveler.
- Preparation of a sample South America itinerary or travel proposal.
- A written customer follow-up exercise.

These exercises are designed to evaluate communication, sales ability, destination thinking, organization, and customer-service skills.
