Head of Engineering — the CTO's number two (hybrid Buenos Aires)

At DYNAMO we build the platform the largest Telcos in LATAM, Africa and Europe use to communicate with their users: automated campaigns and journeys over SMS, WhatsApp, RCS, email and SIM menus. More than 500 million end users and millions of messages per day.

We're looking for the CTO's number two: someone who leads the engineering team, keeps coding , and has a voice of their own in decisions. A small, very senior team with a lot of autonomy and genuinely hard technical problems: scale, distributed systems, and a whole AI layer still to be built into the product.

What you'll do

- Lead a team of 4 up close (2 fullstack, 1 infrastructure, 1 security), with room to grow.
- Keep writing code in the critical parts: this is a leader who also ships.
- Take a still-fuzzy business need and turn it into a plan: understand the real problem, validate it, define the minimum scope, prototype fast, and estimate the effort.
- Debate decisions with the CTO as an equal, with solid reasoning.
- Drive the use of AI in the team's day-to-day and in the product (automated decisions: who to contact, when, and through which channel).

What we're looking for





- You're hands-on today, not "I used to code a few years ago."
- You've led small teams up close (one-on-ones, hiring, code review), not 30 people through middle managers.
- You've lived high-volume production and distributed systems: real incidents, queues, bottlenecks under load.
- You use AI in your work every day and can say what you do differently with it.
- You work in English with international clients and vendors.

Stack

- Backend: TypeScript and Node.js in microservices (plus some legacy PHP being migrated).
- Frontend: Vue.
- Messaging & queues: RabbitMQ.
- Data stores: Redis, MySQL, MongoDB.
- Containers & infrastructure: Docker, Kubernetes, AWS.
- AI: coding agents (e.g. Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot) as part of the team's daily work.

Nice to have (not required)

- Experience in CPaaS, fintech, marketplaces, logistics, adtech or gaming.
- Having taken an AI model to production with measured impact.

Details

- Hybrid: 1 to 2 days on-site per week.
- English required (meetings with clients and vendors across Africa, Europe and LATAM).
