Role Description This full-time remote role is for a Spanish to English Medical Interpreter who will facilitate accurate, confidential, and culturally sensitive communication between Spanish-speaking patients and English-speaking healthcare professionals. Day-to-day tasks include interpreting spoken and sometimes written medical information in real time during appointments, consultations, and follow-up communications. The interpreter will clarify medical terminology, procedures, and instructions while maintaining neutrality and adhering to professional ethics.

Additional responsibilities include preparing for sessions by reviewing relevant terminology, documenting completed interpretation sessions as required,



and collaborating with clinical staff to support patient understanding and safety.

Qualifications

- Strong, demonstrable fluency in Spanish and English, with excellent listening, speaking, and comprehension skills in both languages.
- Proficiency in medical terminology in Spanish and English, and the ability to explain complex clinical information in clear, accessible language.
- Experience or training in medical or community interpreting, including knowledge of interpreting ethics, confidentiality standards, and cultural competency.
- Ability to work effectively in remote settings using phone, video, and other communication platforms, with solid basic technical skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including professionalism, neutrality, emotional resilience, and the ability to build trust with patients and healthcare teams.
- Relevant certifications in medical interpreting (e.g., CMI, CHI) or completion of recognized interpreter training programs preferred.
- Experience in healthcare environments or patient-facing roles is beneficial, as is familiarity with privacy regulations such as HIPAA.
- High school diploma required; an associate or bachelor’s degree in languages, translation, healthcare, or a related field is a plus.
