TITLE: LIBRARIAN Open Until filled Qualifications - Valid Arizona Teacher Certification in library science/media specialist - Bachelor's or master's degree in library science, education, or a related field or Education Administration desired - Valid Arizona Certification in Supervisor or Principalship helpful but not required - At least three (3) years successful experience - Such alternative to above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable High School Librarian Position Summary The High School Librarian manages and supports the school library and provides students and teachers with access to books, digital resources, technology, and research materials. The librarian promotes reading, information literacy, independent learning, and responsible use of information while collaborating with teachers to support the school's academic curriculum.
Key Responsibilities - Manage the school library collection, including books, periodicals, digital resources, and educational materials.
- Help students locate, evaluate, and use information for research, assignments, and personal interests.
- Teach students research skills, information literacy, digital citizenship, and proper use of library resources.
- Collaborate with teachers to develop lessons and research projects that support curriculum standards.
- Select, order, organize, catalog, and maintain library materials.
- Maintain an inviting, safe, and welcoming library environment.
- Assist students with technology, databases, online research, and educational software.
- Promote reading through book displays, reading programs, author visits, and other activities.
- Maintain accurate records of library materials and student usage.
- Establish and enforce library policies and procedures.
- Support students with diverse learning needs and provide equitable access to resources.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, school activities, and other duties as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned Work Environment Full-time position in a public high school. The librarian works primarily in the school library and collaborates regularly with teachers, students, administrators, and support staff. Duties may include occasional evening or school-community events.
