Position Summary
Redtree Engineering is seeking an experienced Senior Structural Engineer to lead structural analysis, design, and engineering development activities for industrial facilities, power generation projects, energy infrastructure, and mining operations. We are seeking engineers with 8+ years of hands-on structural design and calculation experience, with a strong recent track record in industrial and heavy-industry environments.
This role is heavily focused on hands-on structural engineering, analysis, calculations, and technical leadership rather than project administration. The ideal candidate has deep experience designing structural steel, pipe racks, reinforced concrete, and equipment foundations — including dynamically loaded foundations for turbines and boilers — in industries such as power generation, mining, oil & gas, or similar heavy industrial environments.
This is an excellent opportunity to take a technical leadership role in a growing engineering organization and help expand Redtree's in-house structural engineering capabilities in Latin America.
You Will
- Lead structural analysis and design of steel, reinforced concrete, foundation, and support structures for industrial and energy-related facilities.
- Take technical ownership of structural calculations, design packages, engineering reports, specifications, and construction documents.
- Design structural systems supporting industrial equipment, process facilities, power generation equipment, and related infrastructure — including turbine and boiler foundations, steel structures, and pipe racks.
- Review and apply applicable building codes, design standards, and client requirements to engineering solutions.
- Review and approve structural plans, drawings, calculations, and technical reports prepared by other team members.
- Coordinate with civil, mechanical, electrical, controls,
and project management teams throughout project execution, including with the Revit modeling team (engineer calculates; modeler builds the model).
- Conduct field investigations, site visits, condition assessments, and construction support activities as required.
- Lead equipment foundation design, structural rehabilitation, and infrastructure improvement projects.
- Support project scoping, budgeting, scheduling, and engineering estimates.
- Lead quality reviews, constructability reviews, and technical evaluations.
- Support proposal development and technical scope definition for new project opportunities.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior and semi-senior engineers.
- Provide engineering support during procurement, construction, startup, and commissioning phases.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (Structural emphasis) or Structural Engineering.
- 8+ years of structural engineering experience, with recent, hands-on design and calculation work in industrial, energy, mining, oil & gas, or power generation environments.
- Demonstrated experience performing structural analysis and design as a primary responsibility (not primarily administrative or project management).
- Strong experience designing structural steel, pipe racks, reinforced concrete structures, foundations, and equipment support systems.
- Experience using at least one major structural analysis platform: Autodesk Robot, SAP2000,
or STAAD Pro (no single tool is exclusionary — proficiency in any one is acceptable).
- Comfortable coordinating with a Revit modeling team.
- Advanced English proficiency (written and verbal).
- Ability to lead technical work both independently and within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Detail-oriented, technically focused, and committed to delivering high-quality engineering solutions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing machine foundations, turbine foundations, boiler foundations, compressor foundations, generator foundations, or other dynamically loaded structures.
- Experience performing dynamic analysis, vibration analysis, or foundation design for rotating equipment.
- Exposure to transmission line structures, substations, utility infrastructure, or related power delivery systems.
- Knowledge of American design codes (IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, ACI 318) is a plus.
- Knowledge of OSHA or equivalent industrial facility safety requirements.
- Prior experience leading or coordinating engineering teams and technical disciplines.
- Prior experience working remotely or within distributed, multicultural engineering teams.
What We Offer
- A technical leadership role with real ownership of high-impact regional and international projects.
- Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and industry-leading clients.
- A professional environment focused on innovation, technical excellence, and career growth.
- Mentorship and leadership opportunities within a growing organization.
- Participation in projects across power generation, mining, industrial infrastructure, and energy infrastructure.
- Adaptable/hybrid work arrangements based in Buenos Aires, depending on project requirements.
- Competitive compensation aligned with experience and qualifications.
