We Install IT
Buenos Aires
The Operations Manager owns the performance and execution of the entire project portfolio — spanning AV, Data Center, and IT installation projects executed across the US and Latin America. This role is responsible for maintaining full visibility across all active projects, supervising and developing the team of Project Managers, recruiting and technician performance outcomes, managing vendor and subcontractor relationships, and driving the operational processes, automation, and technology adoption that let the company scale without losing quality or control.
This is a portfolio-level leadership role: the Operations Manager owns everything happening across the full book of business, with the ability to absorb a high volume of information from multiple projects and sources and quickly identify what actually matters — while also building the systems and processes that the whole team operates with. While this is primarily a supervisory and oversight role, the ideal candidate is comfortable stepping in hands-on to personally lead a project's coordination when circumstances call for it — not as the default way of working, but as a readiness to take the lead when a specific situation requires it
RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee the Full Project Portfolio
- Stay fully informed on everything happening across the project portfolio — with the ability to identify what's relevant and what requires attention.
- Identify projects that are stalled or at risk, and escalate or resolve blockers before they affect delivery or the client relationship.
- Supervise and support the internal coordination of technician scheduling and project/team assignments, backing up Project Managers to prevent overload and burnout.
- Continuously evaluate and bring in new technology and tooling to improve operational efficiency as the company scales
Manage and Develop the Project Manager Team
- Directly manage, coach, and develop the team of Project Managers.
- Own the onboarding process and materials for new PMs (onboarding manual, SOPs, tool training).
- Set and communicate clear performance standards and expectations for PMs; run recurring 1:1s.
- Act as the point of support and escalation when a PM needs help — stepping in on project coordination and team assignment to keep projects moving without burning out the PM team.
Technician Performance & Development
- Ultimately responsible for technician performance management, coaching, and compensation decisions — technicians report functionally to the Operations Manager, even though their day-to-day work is coordinated through Project Managers.
- Own the technician feedback and coaching cadence,
incorporating input from the Project Managers closest to each technician's day-to-day performance.
- Drive technician retention and growth through structured feedback and compensation review cycles.
Recruiting & HR Oversight
- Own hiring outcomes and pipeline health for the Recruiting/HR Ops function.
- Oversee technician pool-building strategy across markets to support company growth targets.
- Coordinate on HR and legal matters affecting the team — contractor agreements, onboarding documentation.
Vendor & Subcontractor Management
- Negotiate and manage terms with staffing agencies and subcontractor vendors (payment terms, rates, capacity commitments).
- Review vendor contracts and MSAs for risk before signing — cancellation terms, insurance requirements, invoice dispute windows, payment terms.
- Manage relationships with technology/automation vendors supporting Operations (e.g., Zoho ecosystem implementation partners).
Financial & Operational Reporting
- Own weekly labor cost and budget reporting for leadership strategy meetings.
- Track Gross Profit performance by project (estimated vs. presente).
- Monitor billing and invoicing accuracy; support Finance with cost validation and reconciliation.
Strategic & Cross-Functional Leadership
- Own the Operations department's quarterly priorities under the company's EOS/Traction operating system.
- Participate in the weekly leadership meetings, reporting on department scorecard metrics.
- Own the interface between Operations and Sales/Account Management — improving project outcomes through the quality of Sales' input during project handoff, and through how Operations communicates project progress and change-order needs back to Sales during execution.
- Build and improve interdepartmental processes.
- Escalate and resolve systemic process issues affecting project delivery, working directly with department leads to implement lasting fixes.
International & Distributed Team Management
- Manage a distributed team spanning the U.S. and Latin America — Recruiting, Project Managers, and subcontractors across multiple states, countries, and time zones.
- Lead the operational setup required to open new U.S. markets — building new technician teams, coordinating warehouse space, tools/equipment, and state-specific legal/licensing requirements to operate.
- Identify when a new market or region requires additional Project Manager coverage, and coordinate that hiring and onboarding process.
- Coordinate work-visa and relocation processes for internationally-based team members transitioning into U.S.-based roles.
ABOUT YOU
- Experience: 8+ years in operations, project/program management, or technical operations leadership.
- Availability: Must be able to work core hours aligned with Pacific Standard Time (PST) — nonnegotiable, as the company and the team operate on this schedule.
- Location: Based in Buenos Aires, Argentina — hybrid role, with in-person days at our WeWork office in Vicente López.
- Data center experience: Required. Hands-on experience managing or operating within data center or mission-critical infrastructure environments.
- Managing at scale: Experience managing both direct and indirect reports — comfortable leading a team of direct reports (5-6 Project Managers) while maintaining oversight of a much larger indirect team (50+ field technicians), and managing multiple competing priorities across a full project portfolio.
- Leadership: Proven experience building, coaching, and holding accountable a team of Project Managers or similar functional leads.
- People-first leadership: An empathetic, people-first leadership style — genuinely invested in the growth and development of the team.
- Process & automation mindset: Track record of building and improving SOPs, workflow automations, and reporting systems — someone who sees process/technology improvement as a core part of the job, not a side project.
- Cross-functional influence: Comfortable operating as the connective tissue between Sales, Recruiting, Finance, and field execution — able to escalate and resolve issues that cross department lines.
- Bilingual: Professional proficiency in English and Spanish, given the distributed U.S./LATAM team structure.
- Nice to have: Experience managing remote, multicultural teams whose work is performed physically on-site — coordinating people executing hands-on, in-person work from a distance (e.g., field services, installations).
ACCOUNTABILITY The Operations Manager is accountable to the CEO and Co-Founders. Secondary accountability to other members of the leadership team, and to the Project Managers, technicians, and clients supported by Operations.
