Software Engineer – Go/Golang Backend & Distributed Systems | Cybersecurity Platform | Remote

About the Role
At Pavago, one of our clients is hiring a Software Engineer specializing in Go/Golang backend development to build and scale the infrastructure powering a modern cybersecurity platform.
This is not a basic CRUD development role. You’ll work on technically challenging backend and infrastructure problems involving high-volume security data, distributed systems, event-driven architectures, 100+ enterprise integrations, scalable APIs, PostgreSQL, cloud infrastructure, and multi-tenant data architecture.
You’ll have meaningful ownership over the systems that ingest, process, enrich, and move security data across the platform while improving reliability, performance, scalability, and observability.

What You’ll Own
Backend Engineering – Go &
- APIs
- Build and maintain backend services primarily using Go (Golang)
- Design scalable REST APIs and internal microservices
- Build production services designed for reliability and scale
- Implement:
- Authentication
- Rate limiting
- Retry mechanisms
- Fault tolerance
- Robust error handling
- Diagnose performance bottlenecks and improve backend efficiency
- Write clean, maintainable, production-ready code
- Improve existing services as platform usage and data volume grow
Enterprise Integrations
- Build and maintain integrations across 100+ enterprise systems
- Work extensively with:
- REST APIs
- OAuth
- Webhooks
- External services
- Design integrations that remain reliable as customer usage and data volume scale
- Handle external API failures, rate limits, retries, and changing dependencies
- Troubleshoot integration failures and improve resilience
- Implement monitoring and observability around integration health
- Maintain reliable data exchange between the platform and third-party systems
Event-Driven Systems & • Data Pipelines
- Design event-driven architectures for processing security data
- Build pipelines for:
- Data ingestion
- Transformation
- Enrichment
- Work with asynchronous processing, messaging systems, and distributed workflows
- Process high-volume data reliably and efficiently
- Improve pipeline performance and fault tolerance
- Identify bottlenecks within distributed processing workflows
- Design systems that can scale as data volume increases
PostgreSQL & • Data Architecture
- Design scalable data models for multi-tenant applications
- Work extensively with PostgreSQL
- Design and maintain database schemas
- Optimize complex queries and indexes
- Diagnose database performance issues
- Support both operational and analytics-oriented data requirements
- Maintain data integrity as the platform scales
- Consider scalability and performance when designing new data models
Cloud Infrastructure & • Observability
- Deploy and operate services across cloud environments, with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) preferred
- Work with scalable compute, managed storage, and messaging infrastructure
- Implement:
- Monitoring
- Logging
- Observability
- Diagnose production issues systematically
- Improve service reliability and platform stability
- Contribute to infrastructure and platform scalability initiatives
- Help ensure production systems remain observable as complexity grows
Architecture & • Platform Development
- Collaborate closely with:

- Participate in architecture decisions and technical design reviews
- Identify opportunities to improve:
- Reliability

- Contribute to platform architecture as requirements evolve
- Support AI-powered security workflows and automation initiatives
- Take ownership of technical problems from investigation through resolution
Requirements
- Strong professional backend software engineering experience
- Proficiency in Go/Golang, or strong professional experience with Python, Java, or TypeScript with willingness to transition to Go
- Experience building production APIs and distributed backend systems
- Strong relational database experience, ideally PostgreSQL
- Experience with at least one major cloud platform:
- GCP
- AWS
- Azure
- Hands-on understanding of:
- REST APIs
- Webhooks
- Authentication systems
- Asynchronous processing
- Database design
- Database optimization
- Strong debugging and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to independently own technical problems through resolution
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering and cross-functional teams

What a Typical Day Looks Like Your day may begin by reviewing system health, integration performance, or an issue affecting production data processing.
Throughout the day, you could build and ship backend services in Go, design an integration with an enterprise platform, troubleshoot a production integration, optimize PostgreSQL queries and indexes, or improve API performance.
You may also build or refine event-driven data pipelines, review architecture decisions with other engineers, improve monitoring and observability, or contribute to AI-powered security and automation workflows.
In short: you’ll build the scalable backend infrastructure, integrations, APIs, and data systems that power a modern cybersecurity platform.
