NYU Buenos Aires is currently recruiting for a part-time lecturer to teach "Policy and Health: Exploring Latin American Health Care Systems" sponsored by NYU's School of Integral Public Health. Teaching begins in the Fall semester (Aug. 27th - Dec. 16th 2026).

Course format The course is taught in English and meets for 3 hours per week, for 14 instructional weeks plus the final examination week, and office hours. The instructor role includes all preparations, delivery of lecture materials in an interactive manner, providing feedback on assignments and all grading in a timely manner.

Course Description

This course will explore how sociocultural and political economic factors in different Latin American countries have affected the development of their health care systems and contributed to marked health disparities. Using a multidisciplinary lens that will draw on and compare public health policy and anthropological perspectives,



students will explore sociocultural and political economics factors that have an impact on public health and delivery of health care services in Latin America, and individual and community experiences with health care. Students will focus particularly on the Argentinian health care system through lectures and visits with health care users, providers, managers, and policy advocates throughout Buenos Aires.

A strong candidate will have a Ph.D. or its equivalent in Public Health, Public Health Policy, Medical Anthropology, or another related field. Candidates with teaching experience, and experience with U.S. institutions of higher education are strongly encouraged to apply. Candidates must be employable in Argentina on a contract.
