Job Summary
The Supply Chain Manager role will be responsible for establishing and leading the end-to-end supply chain function for a newly established Buenos Aires Corporate Office.
This role is highly strategic and externally focused, requiring strong supplier engagement, market intelligence, and network development to build a competitive and resilient local supply base.
The Supply Chain Manager will lead the establishment and execution of the supply chain function for mining operations and projects in Argentina.
This role is critical to building a strong local presence in a new market, with a primary focus on developing a reliable supplier ecosystem, driving strategic sourcing initiatives, and supporting project delivery in a complex and dynamic mining environment, while aligning supply chain strategies with project timelines, operational needs, and regional business objectives.
In this role, you will manage project Contracts and Procurement personnel in all operations for a project.
You will participate with the project management team in defining and developing the scope of work, and in preparing and coordinating supply chain plans, procedures, schedules, estimates, forecasts, and budgets.
You will ensure supply chain operations comply with corporate, business unit and project requirements.
The position requires a highly external-facing leader capable of engaging with mining contractors, Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), logistics providers, and local suppliers.
The role will drive sourcing strategies aligned with business objectives, ensure effective procurement and contract execution, and enable project delivery through proactive supplier relationship management and collaboration with internal stakeholders.
At project level, this role will oversee all Contracts and Procurement activities for a project, including home and field supply chain activities.
Lead and develop the Supply Chain team and implement the procurement and sub/contract plans while leveraging value and efficiencies and ensuring the monitoring of safety, quality, cost, and performance.
To be successful in the Supply Chain Manager role, you will need to have exceptional communication and relationship building skills to effectively liaise with all levels of the Project team and our suppliers and contractors.
Major Responsibilities
Responsible for implementing Bechtel standards, building a qualified supplier network, ensuring compliance with corporate and local requirements, and supporting project delivery objectives.Upholds Bechtel's ethics and compliance standards across all supply chain activities.Acting as a strategic partner to business and project leadership, managing supply chain risks and opportunities while enabling the successful growth and execution of Bechtel's operations in Argentina.
Organizational & Supply Chain Strategy
Establishing supply chain governance, processes, and supplier management practices for Argentina.
Developing and implementing the local supply chain strategy aligned with business growth and project opportunities.Collaborating with regional and integral teams to ensure alignment with corporate standards.
Supplier Development & Local Content
Building and developing a strong local supplier network through market engagement and industry partnerships.
Promotes local content strategies and supports participation of Argentine suppliers.
Engaging key suppliers, contractors, and OEMs to support future project execution.
Supplier Relationship Management
Developing strategic supplier relationships and drives supplier performance improvements.Leading supplier qualification, onboarding, and capability assessments.
Serving as the main interface between suppliers and internal stakeholders.
Risk, Compliance & Governance
Identifying and mitigating supply chain risks.Ensures compliance with local regulations, import/export requirements, and company policies.
Promoting ethical sourcing and corporate governance standards.
Business Partnership & Advisory Support
Partnering with project, engineering, commercial, and operations teams to support business objectives.Providing market intelligence and supply chain expertise for projects and business development activities.
Supporting proposal development and strategic planning when required.
Project Supply Chain Execution
Leading supply chain planning, budgeting, contracting, and execution for projects.Integrating supply chain activities with engineering and construction plans.
Managing project supply chain closeout and resolution of commercial matters.
Education And Experience Requirements
Requires bachelor's or master's degree (or international equivalent) and ***** years of relevant experience or ***** years of relevant work experienceExperience in Project Contracts & Procurement and Supply Management such as in mining, infrastructure, energy, oil & gas.Experience and thorough understanding of Supply Chain operations at both office and jobsite locations.Low-Cost Country Sourcing experience beneficial.
Required Knowledge And Skills
Significant experience in supply chain leadership roles, ideally within complex or project-based environments.Strong negotiation, communication,
and stakeholder management skills.Strong knowledge of supplier markets in Argentina.Proven ability to build supplier networks and develop strategic partnerships.Experience establishing or scaling supply chain functions in new markets or greenfield environments.Fluency in Spanish and English preferredExperience in working with the other functional groups i.e. Project Controls, Engineering, HSE, Quality and Construction to deliver project objectivesProficient in the use of management tools (Oracle, Primavera, Aconex, EBS, Unifier, ETA, PowerBi, etc.).
