Our team is looking to bring on a Lead Backend Java Developer to fill a key opening. Responsibilities
- Build out and support a data integration platform hosted in the cloud through AWS services
- Architect fresh integration pathways and develop modular, reusable components to meet shifting organizational demands
- Take charge of releasing updates, addressing production-level defects, and keeping enterprise applications running smoothly over time
- Weigh in on architectural conversations and offer technical perspective that shapes overall system design
- Produce code that is tidy, logically organized, and easy to maintain, in keeping with the team's engineering conventions
- Work in tandem with teams from different functions to turn business needs into workable technical outcomes
- Engage actively in reviewing peers' code to maintain high standards and spread useful knowledge throughout the group
- Diagnose and fix technical challenges that surface at different points throughout the software development process
Requirements
- A background spanning five-plus years in enterprise software development, including verified success delivering and supporting large-scale systems within active production settings
- No less than one year spent guiding and managing a development team
- Deep practical fluency in Java (17/21 releases) along with real-world use of Spring Boot
- Concrete experience handling Kafka implementations, especially in the context of transitioning away from SQS
- Demonstrated capability in architecting and developing REST APIs independently
- Hands-on work integrating various applications by leveraging Apache Camel
- Proven history of constructing and sustaining solutions hosted within the AWS ecosystem
- Broad exposure to unit, integration, and performance testing, alongside a firm command of application design concepts and structured coding methods
- Real experience working directly with relational database platforms like Oracle, PostgreSQL, or MS SQL
- Command of English at an Upper-Intermediate (B2) proficiency level or better
Nice to have
- Familiarity with Docker for packaging and deploying applications in containers
- Comfort working within Agile frameworks and delivering through iterative development cycles
- Hands-on use of AI-powered coding assistants and agentic development environments, including tools like Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or Cursor, plus experience applying MCP
- General understanding of message broker systems such as ActiveMQ
- Modest experience applying Python toward writing or supporting integration tests
