We are one of the best known language schools in Buenos Aires. Our English programme is the part of us that has not changed in years, and we are not going to pretend otherwise.

We still sell English the way schools sold it fifteen years ago. You take a placement test, we tell you that you are B1, and you sit in the B1 course on Tuesdays and Thursdays until somebody tells you that you are B2. Adults with jobs and lives do not want that any more, and the ones who still do can get it on any corner of this city.

We want to end it here. We want one person to own the ending of it, and then own what replaces it.

The idea we want you to build

Think about a gym. Nobody joins a gym and is told they are “intermediate at fitness” and put in the intermediate room twice a week for a year. They walk in, say what they want, and find a timetable: spinning at seven, weights at midday, yoga at eight. They choose. They come back because each session did something for them.

We want English here to work like that. One weekly grid, built around objectives instead of levels:




- Get through a job interview in English
- Survive a call with six people and two accents
- Pronunciation clinic
- Write emails that sound like an adult wrote them
- Present for ten minutes without reading off the slides
- Small talk, the thing everybody says they cannot do
- Exam clinics for IELTS, Cambridge and TOEFL

Sessions where people who are not at the same level can sit together and both leave with something, because the session is built around a real task instead of the next unit of a coursebook. Students book what they need that week. Progress is measured in things they can now do, not in the letter and number we gave them in March.

Internally we call it the timetable, because nobody has thought of a better name yet. Naming it properly is also on the list.

We do not have this. That is the job.
