About the role | Mō te tūranga:
Our Core Lab Department is currently looking for dedicated, enthusiastic and competent Medical Laboratory Scientist. This is a permanent, full-time position with an 80-hour fortnight.
You will be willing to learn new skills, work well alone and as part of a team. Extremely well-organised, detail-oriented, and friendly with a strong focus on quality and customer service. The successful applicant must have a high degree of accuracy and be self-sufficient to excel in this role.
Key responsibilities include:
Barcoding, receipting, and preparing specimens as they arrive at the laboratory.
Entering patient and test details accurately into the system.
Answering telephones and handling enquiries professionally.
Work well under pressure and manage competing priorities
Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and a high degree of accuracy
Be willing to learn new skills and adapt to changing procedures
Work effectively both independently and as part of a team
Maintain a friendly, customer-focused approach at all times
Show initiative and be self-sufficient in your day-to-day tasks

To be successful in this role you will need:
The ability to work in a methodical manner adhering to strict quality procedure guidelines.
A team focus with initiative, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and possess the ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
