About Us

Teem builds hybrid healthcare teams, placing reliable remote workers into practices across the United States. We help practices reduce costs, increase efficiency, and deliver better patient care, not by replacing their in-office staff, but by giving them the capacity to focus on what matters most.

Optometry is our most established market and the foundation of everything we build. This role sits at the heart of it.

Position Overview

We are looking for a Content Specialist to join our team and own the content engine that drives Teem’s presence in the optometry market. This is a role for someone who thinks in content, who spots the angle before the brief exists, proposes the format before anyone asks, and then executes it at a quality level that makes optometry practice owners stop and read. Writing is the primary output, but the ideas behind the writing are just as important.

You will report to our Optometry Marketing Lead, who owns overall strategy and campaign execution for the vertical. Your job is to supply the content that powers that strategy: whitepapers, case studies, ebooks, blog articles, guides, blueprints, reports, brochures, and cold email copy, at a pace and quality level that makes optometry practice owners stop, read, and act. But you also bring your own ideas to the table. You read the industry, you find the buried data point, and you build the angle nobody else thought to write.

You do not need to arrive with optometry expertise. You need to be the kind of content thinker who goes deep on any audience until you understand them well enough to write something they would share with a colleague.

Key Responsibilities

Content Strategy and Ideation

- Actively research the optometry market, industry reports, association data, conference conversations, competitive content, and bring back angles, topics, and format ideas that nobody asked for but everyone will want.
- Identify gaps in the current content library and propose what should fill them, with a clear rationale for why that piece, in that format, for that audience segment, at this moment.
- Develop content frameworks and editorial approaches for the optometry vertical that deliver a consistent point of view rather than a collection of individual pieces.
- Contribute to the content calendar with original ideas, not just execution against a plan someone else built.
- Stay current on trends, news, and conversations in the optometry industry and translate that awareness into timely, relevant content opportunities.

Content Production - Optometry Vertical

- Research, write,

and own a high volume of content across multiple formats: blog articles, whitepapers, ebooks, case studies, guides, blueprints, reports, brochures, and cold email copy, all written specifically for optometry practice owners and managers.
- Develop a genuine understanding of the optometry market: its clinical language, business pressures, regulatory environment, and the daily realities of running a small healthcare practice.
- Write content that sounds like it was written by someone who has spent time in their world, not someone who researched them for an afternoon.
- Maintain a consistent publishing cadence without sacrificing quality: volume and depth are both non-negotiable in this role.
- Repurpose long-form content across formats: social captions, email snippets, carousel scripts, and short-form video scripts.

Design and Production Collaboration

- Brief the Optometry Designer on content needs clearly and completely, audience, tone, format, visual intent, so design rounds are productive rather than exploratory.
- Review designed assets to ensure they reflect the content’s intent and meet the audience’s expectations, flagging issues before anything goes to approval.
- Collaborate with the designer to develop content pieces that work visually and editorially as a unified whole, not just copy dropped into a template.
- Performance and Accountability
- Track content performance, engagement, downloads, time on page, and contribution to lead generation, and use that data to improve what you write and what you propose next.
- Meet content deadlines consistently and communicate proactively when timelines are at risk.
- Take ownership of the quality and strategic value of your output, you are the last line of editorial review before content reaches the Marketing Lead for approval.

Required Qualifications

- 3–6 years of experience in content, strategy, content marketing, or a senior writing role where ideation was as important as execution.
- A portfolio that demonstrates both range across formats and a clear point of view: pieces that have a thesis, not just a topic.
- Proven ability to develop original content angles from primary research, industry data, audience insight, competitive gaps,

not just synthesize what’s already been published.
- Strong editorial instincts: you know when a piece is working and when it isn’t, and you can articulate why.
- Comfortable producing at volume without using volume as an excuse for lower quality.
- Highly organized and self-directed: you manage your own content calendar, hit your own deadlines, and don’t need to be managed to do either.
- Clear and proactive communicator: you surface blockers early, ask the right questions before starting, and don’t disappear mid-project.
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Marketing, English, or a related field, or equivalent demonstrated writing and strategy experience.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience writing for a healthcare, professional services, or small business audience.
- Familiarity with SEO principles and how to write content that serves both the reader and search intent.
- Experience producing content, ebooks, whitepapers, reports, that has actually driven downloads and leads.
- Ability to write in multiple registers, authoritative long-form, conversational email, punchy social, without sounding like a different writer in each.
- Comfort working alongside a designer and under a strategic lead.
- Experience in a fast-moving startup or scale-up where content priorities shift and you adapt without friction.

What Sets You Apart

- You find the angle nobody else wrote. You read the industry report past the headline, spot the buried number, and build a piece of content around the insight everyone else skipped. Your best ideas don’t come from a brief, they come from your own curiosity.
- You write things people actually read. Not because the topic is interesting, because you made it interesting. Your drafts don’t need a round of edits to find the point. The point is there from the first paragraph.
- You produce at pace without cutting corners. You can hold a high volume of content in flight simultaneously and deliver all of it on time, at quality. You don’t treat volume as an excuse for thin work.
- You treat every format as its own craft. A whitepaper is not a long blog post. An ebook is not a whitepaper. A cold email is not a newsletter. You understand the difference and write accordingly.
- You are motivated by the mission. Optometry practice owners are running small businesses, caring for patients, and drowning in administrative work they never signed up for. When you understand that, your writing shows it. That’s the difference between content that informs and content that converts
