About the Role:
Grade Level (for internal use): 11 Upstream Commercial Specialist
This role is instrumental in the full sales cycle including discovery, opportunity evaluation, collaboration in planning and execution of commercial offers, support, and opportunity closure. The candidate will use their knowledge to influence customer decisions and provide insightful solutions.
The successful candidate should be able to articulate and communicate the value of S&P; Commodity Insights solutions offerings to prospective customers and S&P;'s internal sales organization. Additionally, the Commercial Specialist will help shape product portfolio by communicating market needs to the Product & Business Teams.
Responsibilities:
- Ultimate responsibility for leading the "technical win" in a sales pursuit.
- Collaborate with Commercial Managers designing and implementing winning strategies for selling and adding value to existing and prospective customers.
- Perform business and technical discovery with customer prospects and diagnose potential solutions.
- Product & solution demonstrations.
- Strategic Account Reviews.
- Strong Communication between Sales, Marketing, and Product Management.
- Understand S&Ps; commercial model, how products relate to each other and how they deliver relevant value to the customer.
- Understand Upstream company personas and how our solutions fit different personas.
Soft Skills:
- Strong passion for face-to-face engagement and demonstrating our solutions.
- Expertise and ability to provide technical/product input during the sales process.
- Excellent customer-facing communication and organization skills.
- Ability to learn new technologies, new concepts and to solve problems.
- Ability to describe complex technical/product concepts to diverse audiences: executives, business stakeholders and technology practitioners.
Qualifications:
- An S&P; Global employee at this level would typically have 3+ years of relevant experience in a customer-facing pre-sales, customer care, or implementation role.
- Strong background in Geoscience, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field (advanced knowledge is a plus).
- Prior experience with Oil & Gas Data and its application by E&P; companies.
- Experience working with cloud technologies, including SaaS applications, cloud infrastructure, Data Analytics, etc.
- Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies, new concepts, and to solve complex problems.
- Hands-on experience with automation technologies, middleware, integration architecture, and Databases.
- Proven capability to describe complex technical/product concepts to diverse audiences, including executives, business stakeholders, and technology practitioners.
- Ability to travel as needed and to work adaptable hours throughout the sales territory.
