External Support - Insider Risk Management (IRM)

THE POSITION The role is part of the Global IT GFS Legal team, with a primary focus on supporting Microsoft Purview Insider Risk Management (IRM) capabilities in close collaboration with Legal, Compliance, Human Resources, IT Security, and other business stakeholders.

This position plays a critical role in enabling the responsible detection, review, escalation, and management of potential risk scenarios, including activities that may indicate data leakage, policy violations, or other user-related risks within the Microsoft 365 environment.

Given the sensitive nature of the activities performed, this role requires an individual with high discretion, strong analytical skills, and the ability to operate within approved governance, privacy, legal, and ethical-use requirements.

TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES

- Support the integral operation and administration of Microsoft Purview Insider Risk Management and related processes, ensuring alignment with regulatory, data privacy, and internal governance requirements.

- Continuously improve and optimize IRM policies and processes, including risk indicators, thresholds, escalation paths, and maintenance of related documentation.

- Maintain confidentiality safeguards and ensure auditability of IRM activities and case information.

- Coordinate with Legal, Compliance, Human Resources, IT Security, and other stakeholders to ensure IRM processes align with approved governance standards.

- Monitor, triage, and document IRM alerts and cases according to approved procedures, collaborating with authorized teams on escalations.





- Support investigation workflows resulting from IRM alerts, including evidence collection and analysis of technical logs and relevant data sources.

- Prepare recurring metrics, reports, and status updates related to alert trends, case volumes, process effectiveness, and improvement opportunities.

- Drive testing, validation, change management, and user readiness activities for new or updated IRM policies, features, and operating procedures.

REQUIREMENTS

- Experience with Microsoft Purview Insider Risk Management, Microsoft 365 Compliance solutions, or similar insider risk/data protection platforms.

- Understanding of insider risk management concepts, including:

- Risk indicators

- Policy configuration

- Alert triage

- Case management

- Escalation workflows

- Audit-ready documentation

- Knowledge of Microsoft 365 workloads and signals, including:

- Exchange Online

- Microsoft Teams

- SharePoint Online

- OneDrive

- Entra ID

- Microsoft Defender

- Endpoint-related activity

- Strong understanding of:

- Privacy-by-design principles

- Proportionality

- Responsible investigation practices

- Confidentiality controls (least privilege, role-based access controls)

- High level of discretion and sound judgment when managing sensitive employee-related matters and confidential case information.

- Ability to coordinate across global teams and manage multiple stakeholders in time-sensitive environments.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with emphasis on documentation accuracy, process discipline, and quality.

- Strong ownership mentality, proactive attitude, and self-driven working style.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

- Familiarity with eDiscovery or Digital Forensics processes is considered a plus, particularly for cases requiring escalation to adjacent IT Legal capabilities
