Early in your technical career, but unusually good at figuring things out?
Plainstep is looking for a Junior Application Support Engineer to join our support team. This is a full-time, long-term independent contractor role. The starting contractor fee is USD 1,500 - 1,800 per month, depending on your current skills and demonstrated capability.
You don't need years of experience. We care much more about your technical aptitude, your English, your work ethic and how quickly you learn.
You do need at least a basic understanding of SQL and C#. We don't expect you to know everything: we'll provide structured onboarding, you'll work alongside experienced engineers, and you'll take on more as your capability grows.

Who we are
Plainstep is a software company with a fully remote team across three continents. We build and support integration and data-automation systems for international clients, primarily using .NET and SQL Server.
You will join an established support team of experienced support engineers and developers.

What you will do
Initially,



working closely with more experienced colleagues, you will:
Learn our platform, support processes and client environments.
Monitor support queues and respond promptly to new issues.
Investigate problems using logs, data and other available evidence.
Write SQL queries to understand what is happening in the data.
Read C# code to identify where a problem may originate.
Keep colleagues and client stakeholders informed while an issue is open.
Ask for help and escalate promptly when something is beyond your current knowledge.
Document what you found and how an issue was resolved.

As your capability develops, you will conduct investigations more independently and handle more complex work. We review rates as the scope of your responsibilities increases and you demonstrate greater capability. Progression is earned rather than automatic.
