Position: SAP BASIS Consultant

Location: Remote (Argentina)

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior SAP Basis Consultant with 12+ years of hands-on experience to join our team remotely from LATAM. This is a senior, client-facing role for a candidate who has owned the technical backbone of large, complex SAP landscapes — from architecture and installs through upgrades, migrations, and 24/7 production support.

The idóneo candidate will act as the Basis SME, driving system strategy, leading migrations (including to S/4HANA and cloud), and mentoring junior Basis administrators.

Key Responsibilities

- Own end-to-end administration of SAP landscapes: installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, and system copies across ECC, S/4HANA, BW/BI, Solution Manager, PI/PO, and other SAP NetWeaver-based systems.
- Lead technical architecture and sizing decisions for new SAP implementations, landscape consolidations, and system refreshes.
- Lead SAP S/4HANA conversions/migrations (technical/system conversion, new implementation, or selective data transition) and lead moves to SAP cloud offerings (RISE with SAP, HEC, hyperscaler platforms — AWS/Azure/GCP).
- Manage HANA database administration: installation, backup/recovery strategy, performance tuning, high availability (HA), and disaster recovery (DR) design.
- Own transport management (STMS), change control processes, and landscape governance across dev/QA/prod environments.
- Lead performance monitoring, tuning, and troubleshooting (memory management, work processes, database performance, background job scheduling).
- Design and maintain HA/DR strategies (e.g., HANA System Replication, clustering)



and lead disaster recovery testing.
- Own SAP system security at the infrastructure level: OS-level security, client administration, SSO/SSL configuration, and secure network communications (SNC).
- Lead incident and problem management for critical production issues, including after-hours escalations as part of an on-call rotation.
- Collaborate with Basis, security, infrastructure, and functional teams to plan and execute maintenance windows, upgrades, and Enhancement Package (EHP) implementations.
- Manage integration and connectivity between SAP and non-SAP systems (interfaces, RFCs, web services, middleware).
- Define and enforce Basis standards, documentation, and operational runbooks for the practice.
- Mentor and provide technical direction to junior and mid-level Basis administrators.
- Support license/usage measurement (SAP LAUW, digital access) and capacity planning.

Required Qualifications

- 12+ years of hands-on SAP Basis experience, including deep expertise across both ECC and S/4HANA landscapes.
- Proven track record leading multiple full-lifecycle implementations, upgrades, and/or S/4HANA migrations end-to-end (not just support/maintenance).
- Expert-level knowledge of SAP NetWeaver architecture, kernel/OS-level administration,



and application server administration (ABAP and Java stacks).
- Extensive hands-on experience with SAP HANA database administration (installation, backup/recovery, performance tuning, HSR/HA/DR).
- Strong experience with cloud-hosted SAP environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and/or RISE with SAP.
- Deep expertise in transport management, change control, and landscape governance.
- Proven experience designing and executing HA/DR strategies and disaster recovery testing.
- Strong track record leading critical incident resolution and production support at scale.
- Demonstrated experience leading client-facing discussions, technical design sessions, and managing junior team members.
- Strong English communication skills (written and verbal) — Spanish and/or Portuguese fluency a plus depending on client base.
- Proven ability to work independently and lead remotely across distributed, cross-time-zone teams, including flexibility for planned off-hours maintenance/on-call support.

Preferred Qualifications

- SAP certification in Basis, S/4HANA System Administration, or HANA Technology.
- Experience with SAP Solution Manager (technical monitoring, Focused Build/Insights, ChaRM).
- Experience with SAP Fiori/Gateway technical administration and landscape setup.
- Scripting/automation experience (Shell, Python, Ansible) for Basis operations.
- Experience with SAP BTP (Business Technology Platform) administration.
- Prior experience in a Big 4 or top-tier SAP consulting firm.
- Experience as a workstream/team lead managing other Basis consultants.
