About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Node.js Developer with 10+ years of professional software development experience to join our team on a contract basis, remote from Argentina. This role is for a hands-on senior engineer who can own backend architecture, write production-grade code, and operate independently with minimal oversight, while collaborating closely with cross-functional and distributed teams.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, build, and maintain scalable, high-performance backend services and APIs using Node.js.
- Own architecture decisions for microservices, RESTful APIs, and/or GraphQL endpoints.
- Write clean, well-tested, maintainable code and drive engineering best practices (code reviews, testing standards, CI/CD).
- Optimize application performance, scalability, and reliability in production environments.
- Design and manage integrations with databases (SQL and NoSQL), caching layers, and message queues.
- Collaborate with front-end engineers, DevOps, product managers, and QA to deliver end-to-end features.
- Lead technical design discussions and mentor mid-level and junior developers.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues, including performance bottlenecks and system failures.
- Participate in architecture reviews and contribute to technical roadmap and platform decisions.
- Ensure security best practices are followed across the application stack (authentication, authorization, data protection).
- Support CI/CD pipeline design and deployment automation in cloud environments.

Required Qualifications





- 10+ years of professional software development experience, with strong, hands-on expertise in Node.js .
- Deep knowledge of JavaScript/TypeScript and asynchronous programming patterns.
- Proven experience designing and building RESTful APIs and/or GraphQL services at scale.
- Strong experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Redis, DynamoDB, etc.).
- Solid understanding of microservices architecture, containerization (Docker), and orchestration (Kubernetes) is a plus.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and cloud-native application design.
- Strong experience with testing frameworks (Jest, Mocha, etc.) and test-driven development practices.
- Experience with message brokers/queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS) is a plus.
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI) and DevOps practices.
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical design and mentor other developers.
- Strong English communication skills (written and verbal) for daily collaboration with distributed/general teams.
- Proven ability to work independently as a contractor, managing priorities and delivery with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with front-end frameworks (React, Vue, Angular) for full-stack collaboration.
- Experience with serverless architectures (AWS Lambda, Azure Functions).
- Exposure to Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments with distributed teams.
- Prior experience in a consulting, agency, or contract-based engineering role.
- Open-source contributions or a strong portfolio of production systems built with Node.js.
