MG Consulting Firm recruits experienced legal assistants for placement with law firms across a range of practice areas. The qualified candidates are considered for current and upcoming remote openings with our client firms.
Position Summary
The Legal Assistant provides remote administrative and substantive support to attorneys on active matters — document preparation, court and agency filings, calendar and deadline management, and client communication. Prior law firm experience is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, proofread, format, and finalize correspondence, pleadings, discovery responses, contracts, and other legal documents
- Prepare and submit court and administrative agency filings, including electronic filing through federal and state systems
- Maintain attorney calendars and docket deadlines; calculate and track filing dates and limitations periods
- Open, organize, and maintain client files and matter records in the firm's document management system
- Coordinate service of process, subpoenas, court reporters, and process servers
- Assemble exhibits, binders, closing sets, and hearing materials in digital format
- Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, court staff, and vendors
- Enter attorney time, process expenses, and assist with monthly billing and invoice review
- Schedule depositions, mediations, hearings, closings, and client meetings
- Conduct basic factual research and retrieve records, filings, and case documents as directed
- Safeguard client confidentiality in accordance with applicable rules of professional conduct
Required Qualifications
- [2–5]+ years of legal assistant or legal secretary experience in a law firm
- High school diploma or equivalent; paralegal certificate or degree preferred
- Working knowledge of court filing procedures and e-filing systems
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word (styles, redlining, TOC/TOA), Outlook, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat
- Strong grasp of legal formatting, citation conventions, and grammar
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing deadlines accurately with minimal supervision
Remote Work Requirements
- Reliable high-speed internet and a private, distraction-free workspace suitable for confidential client information
- Availability during core business hours in the assigned firm's time zone
- Comfort with remote collaboration tools (Teams, Zoom, Slack) and cloud-based practice management platforms
- Self-directed work style with consistent, proactive communication
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience working remotely for a law firm
- Familiarity with iManage, NetDocuments, Clio, Relativity, Aderant, or ProLaw, Notion Ai, Claude, Chatgpt
- Experience supporting multiple attorneys simultaneously

Compensation varies by client firm, practice area, and experience level, and is discussed during the screening process.
