We're looking for a Backend Developer to join our engineering team and take ownership of core backend services built on Java. This role has real technical depth (API design, data modeling, testing discipline) combined with the autonomy to run stakeholder conversations directly — you won't just be writing code, you'll be shaping how it gets built.

From day one you'll work close to the product, own meaningful pieces of the backend, and have direct visibility into how your decisions play out in production.

On any given day you might…
- Design and build REST APIs, treating their shape as a contract with consumers rather than an implementation detail
- Write and evolve Java (17/21) services on the JVM (Spring Boot or Micronaut)
- Design database schemas, tune queries, and manage versioned migrations (Flyway or Liquibase)
- Write unit and integration tests (Testcontainers or similar) as a default part of your workflow
- Run PRs through CI checks and collaborate on code review with the team
- Join stakeholder meetings independently to align on requirements and trade-offs





What are we looking for in this role?
- Advanced English (spoken and written) — able to lead stakeholder meetings independently
- 3+ years of backend development experience with strong fundamentals in Java
- Solid grounding in the JVM (Spring Boot or Micronaut experience preferred)
- SQL proficiency: schema design, query tuning, and versioned migrations — understanding why released migrations are immutable and schema changes must stay backwards compatible
- REST API design experience
- Automated testing as a default habit (unit, integration)
- Git workflow discipline: feature branches, PRs, running CI checks locally before pushing

Nice to have (not required):
- AWS and GCP knowledge
- Cursor knowledge
- Experience with payments or accounting integrations (Stripe, Xero, or similar)
- Experience building or maintaining agent infrastructure: custom skills, MCP servers, hooks, or multi-agent workflows
