Athletic Coaching Requirements
- All head coaches must have a minimum of 2 years experience as a head high school coach.
- All head coaches must have a valid Arizona Coaching Certificate or complete the NFHS Level 1 Certification by taking an NFHS Sport Specific course or Teaching Sports Skills course (along with other mandated courses).
- All head or assistant coaches, whether paid or volunteer, must complete the NFHS First Aid, Health and Safety for Coaches course.
- All head or assistant coaches, whether paid or volunteer, must complete the NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching course.
- All head or assistant coaches, whether paid or volunteer, must complete the NFHS Concussion in Sports course.
- All head or assistant coaches, whether paid or volunteer, must complete the NFHS Heat Illness Prevention course.




- All head or assistant coaches, whether paid or volunteer, must complete the following NFHS Sport Specific Courses as applicable: Basketball, Volleyball, Football, Wrestling, Baseball, Softball, Track & Field, Soccer, AACCA Spirit Safety.
- Spirit line coaches (upon hiring) must have a current AACCA Spirit Safety certification and attend an NFHS Spirit Rules course each year through the A.I.A.
- All coaches must complete the required courses and provide a copy of their certificates upon submission of the application.
- All coaches must hold a valid CPR card from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
