Athletic Coaching Requirements
- Completed San Carlos Unified School District (SCUSD) online application: www.scbraves.net/Employment
- Arizona Department of Public Safety Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card/Verification. Application for IVP card will be accepted, pending approval.
- All Head Coaches must have a minimum of 2 years of experience as a head high school coach.
- Must have a valid CPR card from American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
- All head or assistant coaches, whether paid or volunteer, must complete the NFHS First Aid, Health And Safety For Coaches course.
- All head or assistant coaches, whether paid or volunteer, must complete the NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching course.
- All head or assistant coaches, whether paid or volunteer, must complete the NFHS Concussion in Sports course.
- All head or assistant coaches, whether paid or volunteer, must complete the NFHS Heat Illness Prevention course.




- All head coaches must have a valid Arizona Coaching Certificate or must complete the NFHS Level 1 Certification by taking a NFHS Sport Specific course or Teaching Sports Skills course (along with other mandated courses).
- NFHS Sport Specific Courses offered include: Basketball, Volleyball, Football, Wrestling, Baseball, Softball, Track & Field, Soccer, AACCA Spirit Safety.
- Spirit line coaches (upon hiring) are also required to have a current AACCA Spirit Safety Certification and attend a NFHS Spirit Rules course each year through the A.I.A.
- The NFHS courses can be found at www.nfhslearn.org. Each course may have a separate fee and must be paid at time of taking the specific course. Once an applicant has taken and passed the course(s), they will have to provide a copy of their certificate(s) upon submission of application.
