The Role and Team

We are seeking a hands-on Senior Platform Software Engineer with experience operating streaming and event-driven platforms at scale. As a key member of the Platform Services team, you will help ensure the availability, reliability, and scalability of Kafka, Flink, Debezium, and Apicurio.
Responsibilities

- Operate and maintain Kafka, Flink, Debezium, and Apicurio platforms.
- Manage Kafka brokers, partitions, replication, ISR health, consumer groups, upgrades, and recovery.
- Troubleshoot producer, consumer, networking, authentication, serialization, and consumer-lag issues.
- Operate Flink runtime components and jobs, including checkpoints, savepoints, state, scaling, and recovery.
- Manage Debezium connector lifecycle, offsets, snapshots, failures, and schema changes.
- Support schema evolution and compatibility through Apicurio Registry.
- Lead production incident triage, root-cause analysis, and performance tuning.
- Review event-driven architectures and recommend reliable and scalable platform patterns.
- Build automation, observability,



alerts, documentation, and operational playbooks.
- Participate in a periodic on-call rotation to maintain 24/7 reliability and performance of production services.

Candidates based in the Buenos Aires vicinity will be prioritized as this role is Hybrid, 3 days per week onsite.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

- 5 years of experience in software, systems, platform, DevOps, or reliability engineering.

3 years of experience operating distributed platforms in production. * Apache Kafka Operations:Hands-on experience configuring, scaling, and operating production Apache Kafka clusters, including managing partition reassignments, replication factors, In-Sync Replicas (ISR), consumer group rebalances, and consumer lag mitigation.
- Data Streaming Ecosystem: Experience deploying, configuring, or maintaining at least one of the following technologies in a production environment: Apache Flink, Debezium, Kafka Connect, or a schema registry (e.g., Confluent Schema Registry, Glue Schema Registry).
- Distributed Systems Troubleshooting: Experience diagnosing, root-causing, and resolving production incidents involving distributed systems, including network partitions, data loss, service degradation, or high-latency failures
- High Availability & Fault Tolerance: Experience designing or implementing failure recovery mechanisms (such as active-passive/active-active failovers, dead-letter queues,



or automated leader elections) to meet high-availability SLAs/SLOs.
- Demonstrated experience in Java, Go, Python, or a similar programming language.
- Technical Collaboration & Review: Experience conducting formal architecture reviews, documenting system design proposals (e.g., RFCs/ADRs), and partnering across engineering teams to standardize infrastructure patterns
- Professional working English proficiency, spoken and written.

Preferred Qualifications

- Broader hands-on experience across Flink, Debezium, Kafka Connect, and Apicurio.
- Knowledge of Avro, JSON Schema, Protobuf, and schema compatibility practices.
- Experience operating streaming platforms on Kubernetes or cloud infrastructure.
- Experience with platform automation, observability, major upgrades, disaster recovery, and failure-mode validation.
- Experience supporting large-scale, business-critical streaming platforms.
