Openly is the Thomson Reuters Foundation's LGBTQ+ news brand, producing fair, accurate and impartial journalism about LGBTQ+ issues for integral audiences. Our award-winning social video journalism on platforms like TikTok and Instagram targets young audiences who may not frequently use traditional news websites but are interested in watching and engaging with queer stories worldwide, and we aim to serve them where they are.

We are looking for a motivated and creative intern to join our team and help us produce compelling social journalism on global LGBTQ+ rights.

In this role, you will research, pitch and produce short-form video stories for Openly's social channels - including TikTok, Instagram and others - covering LGBTQ+ rights from a global perspective. If interested, there will also be opportunities to contribute to Openly's newsletter on Substack and to help us experiment with and develop new content formats.

You should be comfortable covering a wide range of stories,



from legislative developments and geopolitical shifts affecting LGBTQ+ communities to human interest stories - all told in formats that resonate with social media audiences.

You have a sharp news sense, a creative eye for social-first video storytelling, and a genuine passion for centering the voices of marginalised communities while sticking to the Thomson Reuters Foundation's rigorous journalistic standards and abiding by Thomson Reuters's Trust Principles. While there are staff members from other teams at the Thomson Reuters Foundation based in Buenos Aires, you would be working with our Berlin-based Multimedia Editor.

ABOUT THE ROLE
