Solution Architect – PCN Utility
.
Successful candidates will join the IT Organization, which is part of a multifunction service and technical center with a workforce of more than 1,800 employees that deliver business services and solutions to the corporation across the globe.
The Solution Architect – PCN Utility is responsible for defining, designing, and governing end-to-end technical solutions across the Operational Technology (OT) / Process Control Network (PCN) landscape, ensuring that PCN utilities (e.g., hardening, compliance, patching, backup, monitoring, secure file transfer, and foundational services) are architected in alignment with cybersecurity guardrails, OT standards, and enterprise architecture principles.
The role collaborates closely with Product Owners, Software Engineers, Cybersecurity, and Site Operations to translate business and operational needs into scalable, secure, and supportable solutions deployed across multiple PCN sites.
Key Responsibilities
Define end-to-end solution architectures for PCN Utility capabilities, ensuring secure‐by‐design, resilience, and operational sustainability across OT environments.
Translate business, operational, and cybersecurity requirements into architectural designs, technical standards, and implementation patterns for PCN solutions.
Establish and maintain reference architectures, design patterns, and technical guardrails for on‐premises and hybrid OT solutions.
Collaborate with Product Owners and Agile teams to guide solution design throughout the delivery lifecycle, from concept through deployment and operations.
Review and approve solution designs, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture, OT cybersecurity policies, and PCN standards.
Provide architectural guidance and hands‐on technical leadership during complex implementations, integrations, and site deployments.
Partner with Cybersecurity and Infrastructure teams to embed compliance, hardening, patching, and recovery requirements into solution designs.
Support continuous improvement by identifying architectural risks, technical debt, and opportunities to standardize or simplify PCN utilities.
Required Qualifications
Strong experience designing on‐premises or hybrid architectures for OT / industrial environments (e.g., SCADA, DCS, PLCs, and PCN‐segmented networks).
Deep understanding of OT cybersecurity concepts, including network segmentation, defense‐in‐depth, hardening, vulnerability management, and compliance in PCN environments.
Experience with automation and configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible) and scripting languages such as PowerShell and Python; working knowledge of Linux and Windows platforms.
Proven ability to design integrations, APIs, and shared services that support scalable utility capabilities across multiple sites.
Familiarity with Agile / Scrum delivery models and experience supporting development teams with architectural direction and design review.
Preferred Qualifications
Valuable Certifications (Preferred)
ISA/IEC ***** Cybersecurity Certifications
TOGAF or equivalent enterprise / solution architecture certification
Networking certifications (e.g., Cisco CCNP Enterprise or Security) with relevance to segmented OT / PCN network architectures
Platform or infrastructure certifications (e.g., Microsoft Windows Server or Hybrid Architecture certifications) relevant to on‐premises or hybrid OT environments
Experience with the following tools is highly valued:
SteelCloud (or equivalent compliance / configuration assessment tools)
GoodSync (or secure file transfer / synchronization platforms)
Ivanti Security Controls (or patch management / endpoint configuration tools)
Golden image / OS image management (BOSS images or equivalent – Windows and Linux)
Understanding of Center for Internet Security (CIS) benchmarks for all Windows and Linux related technologies
Understanding of hardening requirements for Industrial Control Systems
Experience in Agile frameworks (e.g., Scrum or SAFe) to effectively manage product backlogs, prioritize features, and collaborate with cross‐functional teams
Understanding of the unique challenges and regulatory requirements within the oil and gas industry, enabling the development of tailored OT solutions that enhance operational efficiency
