ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a Senior/Lead Frontend Engineer to build highly scalable, dynamic, and programmatic email experiences at the intersection of frontend engineering and lifecycle marketing.

You will develop personalized, data-heavy email templates and reusable components using React and Apache Velocity, consume internal and external APIs to drive conditional logic and second-level personalization, and partner with Design Systems to evolve internal tooling toward a modular, AI-assisted self-service architecture.

The role requires mastery of responsive HTML/CSS email rendering across clients including Outlook, Gmail, and Apple Mail.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

- Build personalized, high-complexity email templates and reusable product-specific components using React and Apache Velocity by consuming data from APIs;

- Translate Figma designs into modular, responsive, and reusable code components within email platforms;

- Create, optimize, and segment lifecycle marketing campaign audiences using complex SQL queries and custom APIs;

- Partner with Design Systems to build scalable code frameworks within internal email tooling that pull data from internal sources;

- Deliver dynamically populated email templates powered by live API data and Apache Velocity;

- Ensure fully validated A/B testing setups with complete data and measurement tracking integrity.

MUST HAVES

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field with 4+ years of related experience,



or a Master’s degree with 3+ years of experience;

- Proven track record in front-end development;

- Strong front-end development experience using React, TypeScript, and JavaScript;

- Experience integrating user interfaces with backend platforms;

- Strong command of Apache Velocity (VTL), including macros such as #set, #if, #foreach, and #define;

- Experience composing Velocity components and macros into complete email templates;

- Mastery of responsive and accessible HTML and CSS for email clients;

- Proven experience integrating with APIs and formatting data into conditional, dynamic email templates;

- Experience authoring templates for 100+ locales with localized copy and dynamic personalization;

- Experience with Git, command-line tools, and modern IDEs;

- Experience translating Figma designs into modular code components;

- Experience with AWS infrastructure fundamentals;

- Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform and CI/CD pipelines such as GitLab CI;

- Upper-intermediate English level.

NICE TO HAVES

- Prior experience in email development;

- Practical experience using AI developer tools such as Cursor, Windsurf, or Claude;

- Prior exposure to component internationalization (i18n) and localization frameworks.

Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field with 4+ years of related experience, OR a Master’s degree with 3+ years of experience.

A proven track record in front-end development.

Your most recent role should ideally be as a Software Engineer with a front-end focus.

Modern Web Frameworks: Strong front-end development experience using modern web technologies (React is highly prioritized, TypeScript, JavaScript), and experience integrating user interfaces with backend platforms.

Template Engines: Strong command of Apache Velocity (VTL), including Macros (#set, #if, #foreach, #define), and a deep understanding of how Velocity components/macros compose into full email templates.

Email Engineering: Mastery of hand-coding highly responsive, accessible HTML/CSS optimized to bypass the rendering limitations of tough email clients (Outlook, Gmail, Apple Mail).

API Integration: Proven experience connecting to, querying, and consuming data from various internal/external APIs, and formatting that data into conditional, logic-driven dynamic emails.

Scale & Personalization: Experience authoring templates once and launching them to 100+ locales, handling localized copy and second-level personalization (per-recipient jobs, dynamic data, looping through arrays).

Version Control & Environment: Fluent with Git (GitLab/GitHub), the command line, and modern IDEs (Cursor, Windsurf, VS Code).

Design Tools: Figma (specifically translating designs into modular code components).

Cloud Infrastructure: AWS primitives (compute, storage, networking, IAM).

DevOps / CI-CD: Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tooling (e.g., Terraform) and CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitLab CI).
