JOB DESCRIPTION
You will join the Consumer Banking Legal Practice Group within the Consumer and Community Banking Legal Group at JPMorganChase & Co. (JPMC), supporting the consumer deposit business with a focus on Consumer Branch Banking and related back-office teams. Based in Buenos Aires, Argentina, you will deliver strategic and practical legal advice across branch products and fiduciary account administration topics (including trust account matters, powers of attorney, and decedent/estate issues), collaborate closely with business partners and colleagues across Legal, Risk, Compliance and Controls, and help maintain effective policies, procedures, and awareness of relevant legislative and regulatory developments.
Job Responsibilities
- You will provide strategic and practical legal advice to branch professionals and operational teams supporting branches on fiduciary account administration matters (trust account matters, powers of attorney, decedent/estate issues, and related topics).
- You will develop subject matter expertise and support Consumer Branch Banking products and services, including Safe Deposit Boxes, Notary, Medallion Signature Guarantees, Decedent Accounts, Power of Attorney, Trusts, and other fiduciary account matters.
- You will identify legal issues, escalate when appropriate, and partner with team members and business stakeholders to drive practical solutions.
- You will advise on new initiatives by attending meetings with business partners and providing timely legal guidance.
- You will update, review, and help maintain internal policies and procedures relevant to the supported business activities.
- You will conduct legal research on applicable state and federal consumer finance laws and regulations.
- You will draft and edit customer-facing communications.
- You will support litigation matters by liaising with the businesses to provide relevant background and context, and participate in projects and initiatives aligned to Legal Department priorities.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities and Skills.
- Fluency in written and spoken English, with strong English writing and oral communication skills.
- Law degree and membership in a jurisdictional organization; compliance with all relevant licensing requirements for the role location prior to employment start.
- Minimum 2 years of legal practice experience.
- Strong legal research skills.
- Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with attorneys and business, compliance, and other professionals.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, practical judgment, and issue-spotting/problem-solving capability.
- Ability to work independently, take ownership of responsibilities/projects, and operate effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment (including multitasking, prioritization, and proactive status communication).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities and Skills.
- Experience or interest in financial services regulation.
- Knowledge of U.S. financial service law and process.
- Study or work experience in a common law jurisdiction.
